Nylon May 2007 : Lindsay Lohan

Loved NYLON before. I used to think it was a pretty original magazine with great fashion and interesting articles. It had something different that made it an interesting alternative to every other womens magazine out there.
There are millions of teen magazines (and women magazines in general) that feautures Christina Aguilera, Lindsey Lohan, Avril Lavigne (!?) and those young stars on their covers. They do the same interviews over and over again and look more or less the same. It's boring and uninspiring. I can understand how it could be fun to show sense of humour and perhaps use a big star on the cover for one issue and show a different angle on her but now every issue is like every other magazine out there.

Lindsay must be such a drag to talk to. Does she talk about anything else except the papparazzi? Why do I want to read Mrs. Lohan's 9th grade educated rants on how hard her life is? Buhhhh.... Nylon!

I liked the more obscure cover girls of the past, too, but if the content of the magazine hasn't changed that much, why should we "judge a book by its cover"?

seriously. In my appreciation for finding good things to read, I tried to read this article in an unbiased manner. But getting through her rants is just awful. She is vapid, and apparently clueless if she thinks more than just a face. She is not a serious actress, and I hope she never will be. I hate people who put themselves in the limelight and then complain. She talks crap about the papparazi then goes on to say that she hopes they never stop taking pictures of her. If she was trying to be sarcastic, it's not the least bit funny. I would not mind if I didnt have to see anything about her ever again. How different could her interviews in all of these magazines be?

On a side note, I think teen vogue has caught on with the notion of its teeny bopper covers and putting more up and coming actresses on it at least. I mean, its a small effort right?

eww..cory kennedy again?!? if he puts her on the cover im starting an angry mob right on over to the office and protest!!who's with me?

Lindsay, augh. It just angers me!

For people who don't see why people like me are so angry, well, it's because I've been a NYLON fan from the beginning! This magazine, up until fairly recently, stuck to it's roots. It provided stuff that mainstream magazines like Teen VOGUE, VOGUE, ELLE, etc. weren't providing, such as insightful looks into upcoming bands and singers from all over the world, street style from all over the world, how to create your own clothing items, articles on indie designers, etc. NYLON stood out as being the magazine that was different than the rest. Now it's just becoming one of the rest.

NYLON, I hope you don't prove me right...

I decided to write NYLON another letter (this is my 4th in like the past month and a 1/2). I did something a little different in the hopes that they'd take more time to bother reading it. So, here's my poem to NYLON:

Dear Nylon,
I love you so
but Lindsay and Christina Aguilera
have just got to go.

I can't bare to pick up
your mag at the store
and find that the cover stars
leave me with a bore.

Nylon, uniqueness was your speciality
providing inspiration to gals like me
lately your cover stars leave me unimpressed
seeing unique and different girls is what I like best.

Please, take a hint from a fan like me
stick to your roots, that's the best philosophy.

Love,
Aimee

I love that picture of Beau. Haha, that poem is great. I'm glad you've written them so many times, this one should stick out.

Love the poem... hopefully we'll all be able to read it again when they publish it in the par avion section next month!!

Great, TheKiwi! This is almost as much (possibly more) of a let down than Sienna Miller and Christina Aguliera's covers. Lindsay's quotes are absolutely ignorant, and I really hate how hipster Nylon's been trying to be.

I forgot to mention not to pick up this issue. It's awful. Just flip through it and decide if you want to buy it. You probably won't want to.

this is probably the worst issue i have ever read of nylon... just terrible.
lindsay lohan's interview was disgusting.

the only thing i found interesting in this issue was the DIY section on how to make a hoodie like the Mike and Chris hoodies..but thats about it.
