No, Olja is not derived from Olga, it's a name of its own...a very nice one I'd say

I do know this, I do not need the lesson on what letters exist where. As for 'not making a difference', I think you interpretated this wrongly - I understand how her name is PRONOUNCED therefore the way it is spelt does not make a different to ME. Get on at the Fashion industry, not myself - I did not spell her name that way.

A lot of things are changed for the western world, such as sweet & sour chicken...it isn't really a Chinese dish - just made for the western world. Americans argue they speak 'English', whereas some English argue that the Americans speak...well, 'American' - Allan Sugar does for one and that English guy out of Lost (can't remember his name).

The list goes on!

No one was trying to teach you a lesson but to explain some facts as there are maybe people who are not as well informed as you are.
And no, I don't think that you understood what I meant by "not making a difference"- I did not assume that you would pronounce the name wrongly just because of the spelling but that it bothers me to change the spelling of people's names in general- I wouldn't like people spelling my name in a wrong way. That was my whole point- the pronunciation itself is a whole different point.
Your examples about changing things for the Western world are so off the topic here- I get what you mean, but we're talking about people's names. Would you like the fact that people changed your name for the Asian market, for example if you were spending a lot of time there because of work?

Sensitive? I am not crying a river, my dear, just making a point. If it is anyone who is sensitve it is those who have to make a big arguement over her name.

Anyone who is interested there was an article on Olya yesterday in the Sunday Times alongside a mention of two more models that are from Russia, they were debating how they take these girls out of a 'field' basically to a model agency and do not pay them but rather give them clothes that they model. Also the mention of how they are closer to size zero...blah, blah...anyone else read it?
