just got back a little while ago from the ages i spent in the airport and haven't eaten that well (two packs of easy mac) however considering I hadn't eaten in over 12 hours i'll let it go. I've d/led pilates off the internet before which is a nice alternative to buying the things themselves.
what site did you download them from? i really want to start pilates..... do you like it so far?

I'm actually downloading some at the moment off Kazaa Lite. I'd like to lose about 10-12lbs. Went to the gym today, and had a veggie burger and salad for dinner, but now I'm going to have a couple beer . More gym tomorrow and a pilates video.

Ooooooooooh, we're off and running! :woot:

I am going to lose 25 pounds and get much more fit this year. I've decided to go back to Weight Watchers, beginning again next Tuesday. I lost 20 pounds with them and slowly, mostly for medical reasons, regained it all again.

Here's my plan for the time being. Drink at least 6 glasses of water every day. Eat more protein and veggies and watch carbs that are not whole grain. Walk much more!!! I have a treadmill in the house and I need to reorganize one room so I can open it again. Once the Christmas tree is down (after Epiphany) I can move a chair out of our bedroom which will give me more room for floor exercise and weights.

Feel free to post your goals, ask for help, challenge me, hold me accountable, or whatever else you think will be helpful to me and to the group! As I said to my husband, this time I WILL lose the weight permanently because I'm not going to be on a "diet" but instead make permanent changes to the way I eat and exercise which will be with me for life! :woot:

I've been doing the Atkins for the past several days. I didn't weight myself but I felt the lose in my pants; I'd say about 3 or 4.

Today I couldn't take it anymore. I think I have the flu so I took a break from the diet and had a full meal including a big dessert.

Tomorrow I'm going to the gym. I'm going to do mostly cardio only because I don't want to work the muscle too much until I get a back massage.

I don't want to loose any weight. I just want to replace fat with muscle because "you must live your life like you'll die tomorrow, but you must treat your body like you'll live forever".

Yeah I d/led the pilates off Kazaa Lite. i was going to go the gym today but had a really long nap and didn't get the stuff done I wanted to. it's funny being in the cafeteria and looking at all the girls plates because you can see people trying to keep new years resolutions. Like tealady, i'm just trying to eliminate carbs and eat healthier in general and exercize more. Tealady it sounds like you have everything planned out! I'm just trying to go day by day over here.

I'm the same way tealady. I just want to eat healthier in general, and stick to my workout plan. I don't need a huge adjustment, just a bit of a change.

well- I have been sick for about 2 weeks now so the exercise part hasn't started. I have made an effort to eat healthier-less fat, less carbs, lots of water. As soon as I get to feeling better I will start with the walking, dance classes(hopefully), or aerobics. I am so glad that this group is here-I have to report to someone regularly to stick with this! Good luck everyone! :flower:

"you must live your life like you'll die tomorrow, but you must treat your body like you'll live forever".
I love that quote!

And I agree about not being on a 'diet' as much as changing my lifestyle. Thats what I'm aiming for - a healthier outlook, body and mind for this new year, and many years to come!

I'm joining a new gym after my treadmill accident at my last gym... :muscles:

tealady your plan sounds great, i cant stand fad diets like atkins. healthy eating and regular exercise is the best.

anyway im pretty damn thin already i just need to lose this stubborn pudge on my thighs. any suggestions on a good workout to target this area?

I dont think i'll put too much pressure on myself this year. I HATE the gym with a vengance, so im waiting for a new sports centre opening in spring, because they will have a dance studio    and DANCE is my passion. I am also re-starting to apply the Southbeach diet technique to cut down on sweets, and lose weight eating healthily. This i know i can stick to, rather than something that i know in a few months i'll not even think about :innocent: :innocent:

I didn't go the gym today and I know I should have :(
I find it really hard to go to the gym alone here because it's so small and there is only one eliptical machine (which is the only machine i like as i get a good workout and don't die of lack of breath) and if someone's on it I don't know what to do. Plus usually there are guys in there doing some sort of work out and that scares me. Although I know these are just excuses.

It's weird because usually every year around new years I feel the motivation and i talk to myself about what I want out of life, etc. etc, and how I should go to the gym but this year I just don't have that. I don't know what to do. I need some motivation.

mehg, can you ask a staff member at the gym to help you break the ice with da guys? Most gyms have rules about letting people "work in" which means that if I do one set and you are waiting, I have to let you do one set before I do my next set. You might need staff to help enforce that.

So, no excuses tomorrow, right?

I had a pretty good day. I danced around the house to music like a maniac this morning and that counted as exercise! I had pretty good food today and cooked a delicious and nutritious dinner for my husband and myself. It's always a good day when I cook something for dinner (as opposed to heating something  ).

Only low point was several hours at the doctor's and now it seems I have to see a specialist.

well ia m glad to see that everyone is trying to keep their new years resolutions... And i am so glad to see everyone supporting each other, I think with the support of you guys (and ladies) my new years resolutions will be easier to keep. in fact i was tempted to break a little tonight but i just got online and saw everything you all had to say and am now feeling stronger... Thanks so much i needed that burst of encouragement and reassurance that others are changing too!!! it makes the urge to cheat and break less when you know others are making effort too!!!

I went to the gym today! For the first time in like, forever. I started off pretty slow. I just walked briskly (power-walked, you might say) on the treadmill for 40 minutes. I did break a sweat, so I think I got something accomplished.

I'm home for break and my mom bought me a temporary pass so I could tag along with her at the gym. I like having my mom involved because she makes me go!

Unfortunately our gym here is super low key so no staff or anything but tomorrow i'm going to go no matter what.

Good job HBoogie, my mum is like that too, and just having a parent force you to do something can be such a big help.

I have hit a bump in my plan-no adult dance lessons offered until May :( I will have to look in to the aerobics classes, and I am going to yoga Wednesday.

I can't really do anything strenuous for a while, so I'm waiting for a few weeks before kicking into my excersize plan! :woot:

Right, I went to Weight Watchers tonight and am very motivated to do this once and for all. They have a two week eating plan as sort of a jump start and so I'm going to concentrate on that. I like it because it as LOTS of choices for each meal and different categories within each meal. They also gave me an exercise DVD but no DVD player.

Today i didn't use my car to do the school run, i took a cab in the morning to take the children, then walked back home. it took me 20 mins altogether, and i stopped at a local store to buy some fruits, canderel and fresh juice for breakfast.

On the way to collect my son, i walked to the nursery and back with him. I was quite proud of myself, and it wasn't as painful as i thought it would be. :crush:
