Pairing Shoes with Clothes Help Thread

luckyme: I'm buying them now!
Gannet: I'm going to buy them in Bone, from the DV site!
I'll get a black patent pair later. The Via Spiga pair I like might be onsale at my local L&T. The Marc variety are mainly sold out :(

I plan on buying flat suede moccasins (brown). What would you guys suggest wearing with them?

Earthy/warm tones, nothing shiny/sparkly, very casual outfits ^
Do you have a pic of them?

It's so difficult with such neutral shoes, as you tend to be able to visualise what definitely will not go as opposed to immediately seeing what will go. My first thought was a red dress, fitted body, floaty chiffon skirt to the knee made of 'petal' layers or at least fairly bouncy layers. Now, weirdly enough, I'm going navy but it's got to be a slightly longer skirt with a variagated line (I'm thinking like leaves hanging off a string, sort of a shape) starting at the knee going mid calf.

What's the occasion?

I would recommend black shoes, as red is such a bold color in itself. Your best bet would be black patent heels (or flats, whatever you prefer), and since you've already got the belt, the shoes should probably be free of decorations like bows or jewels.

Maybe something like this would work? I'm not sure how high of a heel you're looking for, but it's just a thought.

I say nude shoes, the taller the better. Or black shoes, the taller the better.

I'd say some strappy sandals as it is more of a late spring dance:
from zappos these Guess by Marciano Freyja:

or less delicate yet patent, and sturdier, yet still strappy, these Franco Sarto again from Zappos:

I was going to say something black and strappy with the red dress. How tall are you? The taller the better, I agree.......

what about these chloes?

yoox

eh, i don't know, they could be terrible, i'm so bad at pairing shoes with clothes..

No to espadrilles. I like those chloe's a lot! They would look great with the dress. Are you going to be dancing or just hanging at the dance? That may make a difference in the heel height, width you choose.
