tanned skin is looking good in the summer.but tan in the middle of the winter is a bit weird..
Absolutely agree^_^
Tanned skin in the winter is Michael Kors, Julien Macdonald

I wish I could choose between pale or tan. My natural skin is already brownish, so I could never really be pale... But sometimes under certain lights, I look really white...Actually it looks nice :D But tanned also looks nice
Pale = pretty
tan = sexy
;)

personally, i hate tan! i hate when people get fake tan, it´s looks awful, and i hate when people are tanned in the winter (without begin in the real sun)
but i like those "chocolate brown" girl, they look hot (sorry, don´t try to sound mean with "chocolate". i think thats just the best way to describe)

White girls who turn themselves orange baffle me  .

I love dark skin though and very pale skin, whatever your ethnicity, as long as you take care of your skin (sun block, moisturizer, etc).

As a very pale redhead, I love the look of darker skin against mine ( I think that was mentioned on the first page).

I use tan in the summer, but its a very light tan by Dior and just gives nice a summery glow (nothing OTT - unless you put LOADS on!)

In the winter I will put on again a light fake tan but only once a week because I hate looking too pale, I am not a fan of the zombie/milk bottle look. I have a olive skin tone and if I don't have a tan I go a yellow-white colour (its really strange), plus my dark circles under my eyes become more obvious and I have long legs and these look like 'corn-beef' legs without a bit of a tan (if you do not know what I mean, take a look at Sophie Ellis Baxtor's legs...eww).

why shouldn't we do both as far as it comes naturally?

pale in the winter, tan during summer

I don't really tan in the Summer.. and it seems to bother people around me more than it bothers me.

I like to be tan all the time, but I would never get a fake tan. I've seen enough orange people for one lifetime-I didn't know that the George Hamilton look was in style! Some people also turn grey, many people get rashes, and so I only tried once to go get a fake tan but my parents said no, and I'm glad they did. I use oil or gel to help me get my tan.

And spray-on tans-I've heard horror stories of them peeling, and they just look bad, so I say no. I prefer to keep it natural-my tan will last but it doesn't look right in winter to have a tan unless you were on vacation.

tan, tan, tan....
living in a hot-sunny area all year doesn't really help u to stay pale in the first place(at least not for a long-time!)
so, where i live, tan is always in.....

I love daker people, arabs, italians, latinos, but me for myself I'm just pale. I can tan very well in summer, but since it's so utterly bad for your skin i'll always use SPF now. I dont know, I guess the most important thing is to accept the skin type you are. not everyone is an adriana lima.
I mean there's still Hana Soukupova :p

I love really pale skin with light eyes and dark/red hair.
I can't say that natural is always the best. Some naturally pale people look astonishing with a bit of a tan.

What I don't agree with is the fact that you just HAVE to fake tan/burn yourself in the sun in summer to 'look presentable' (according to magazines, beauty tips, etc.. bah) in shorts/mini skirts etc.

Same here!

I personally like pale in me I've been trying to get my natural color which is too pale so I didn't get tanned this summer and my friends get annoyed

I also don't like to get tanned cause I have sensible skin, and also I don't like freckles on my back I already have enough..don't want more
I smoke so I had to choose either I smoke or get tanned ..
and I don't want wrinkles
and I think depends on your look

brunnette - pale
blonde - tanned

On other people I dunno. I guess different shades flatter different people but whatever you come with naturally is best.

On me I prefer to be fair ("pale" sounds sick to me. "fair" sounds nicer). My heritage is Russian, German, and Polish so I'm naturally fair. I look cute with a tan too but I refuse to fake it and I am only tan when I spend lots of time out at the beach and I don't really have that much time to spend at the beach to maintain a tan. Especially since I just moved away from Hawai'i... not to mention it will age my skin in the long run.

I will admit I do use a light bronzer when applying make up but it's nothing dramatic. Just a healthy glow since my skin can look washed out without it.

I just got a tan. Thank god!! I was looking like I had jaundice.

Im soo crispy now...Yay..

I like pale for girls because it's easier to wear clothes with pale skin.

Tan for guys because pale guys look so...weird. But I hate the overly, tacky, burnt, orangish tan.

On myself: As pale as humanly possible.
On others: Not important. :)

I just found photos of myself dressed as a vampire aged about 8. I looked fantastic  I think that was the point in my life where I realised I will always be the pale, dark haired person. It's my look!
