Pale Or Tan...

i know i preffer tan (at least most of the times), without getting to extremes. getting naturally tanned is the best option for me, otherwise it looks really fake to me. but pale can look good too, especially that healthy looking pale that some people have. in winter i look almost ghostly, and i really wish i could look pale but healthy at the same time

I like tan better but I tan easily when Im out in the sun even though Im not trying to tan. But I dont try to tan in booths during winter either. Im kinda pale during winter which I dont mind. But I think tan suits me best.

I never understand the idea that tan=healthy. A tan is just skin damage.

I think that blondes and some redheads can look great with pale skin, as for dark haired ladies I really think they should have abit of tan.

No way! I've actually tried a fake tan, and it looked bad on me.

I'm very pale, but i don't mind it, i even like it. Although it's annoying when everyone is like "Oh, you're so pale, are you sick?"

My skin naturally has a bit of color to it because my Dad's side is Greek. I tan really easily during the summer, just walking around, and I even put SPF on everyday. I like my skin during the summer, slightly tanned. It looks natural on me.

I like anything that looks natural- it's important to work with what you have and not try to alter it to the extent where it looks obviously and terribly unnatural. I'm quite fair, with pink-toned skin, but I tan in the summer and I know that if I'm tired/stressed/hungover etc I look better with a bit of bronzer.

i have to say that i like both. It just depends if it suits. Some people look good tanned, some people look good pale..or it could be the other way around and they look crap, haha.

No. I'm not literally saying get a tan from the sun. It can be from a bottle as well.

But it still doesn't make you any healthier. Are African people genetically healthier than caucasians?

^ dont think so really... it just mean they will get less damage for the sun, but if they move up north (like canada or somthing) they will need at lot of vitamin D to top off that neediness for melanin.....

and really, as long as they are natural (or just altered abit) ... all colours of skin are beautiful too...

Lol. I don't like fake tans either, especially the "bronzers" people use that make them look orange!:o I think pale skin can look great, and I usually prefer it on people w/darker hair, just to add a beautiful contrast!

Nope, it just means that Africans are less prone to skin damage and skin cancer, because of the larger amounts of melanin in the skin. My cousin's grandfather had melanoma (I think) and the doctor had to cut the infected skin from him...he managed to live, but probably won't heal perfectly to normal.

Really, it is all about taking care of one's skin. Using sunblock and staying out of the sun more often will keep one's skin healthy. :)

yay im have natural black/brown hair hehehe :) :crush: i feel special now :)

I'm definitely into the pale look for the winter..it's so innocent and natural, unless you have naturally darker skin of course, which is wonderful :)...I'm not into fake tans or tanning beds though--even in the summer, it gets to a point when one's skin looks leathery and it's just not flattering
