“Pre-fall tends to be a lot more about gowns and glamour,” said Pamella Roland of her lineup. “I’d been to Paris and started looking at artists from 1910 and the Twenties; there was so much Asian influence in their art and illustrations.”
In mostly silk and textured gazar, Roland’s gowns included considerable flourish, such as allover beading, tulle-covered pearls and French lace. A fluid Champagne-colored number featured a graceful shoulder drape, while a black column gown with a touch of transparency and floral embroidery demonstrated elegant restraint.
