Paris shopping

As far as I remember I should be until 8th of August, but then again it was an ad for a sale in a certain store, don't know if it applies to every Paris store

I am returning to Paris for the second time in August - can't wait! Somebody mentioned that Paris will be quiet because most of them will be taking a vacation, well that does not matter - less overcrowding, less tourists, less annoying little brats...etc, etc! :-)
But...does anyone know a good vintage clothing market? I am going 21st Aug' till 25th Aug.

Thanks!

I just got back and the summer tourist/soldes shopping crowds were not as bad as I remembered from a couple years ago.

Okay, here's the deal. Sometime during the fall I'll make my first ever visit to Paris, and shopping is gonna be the main activity. But, since I've never been to Paris before I would really, really appreciate some nice tips. Since I'm 16 years old I'm not really interested in the LV, Hermes, Chanel kind of stores, I'm looking for something a bit more, what should I say, interesting? :)

I'm a great fan of Dior and APC, so stores with similar clothing would be awsame. I checked superfuture, but it's impossible to really get a grip from their small comments. So I'm hoping for your help. Anybody? :)

^ you should def. go to the L'eclaireur stores. The one on Rue Mahler (Marais) sells Dior, Ann. Dm, John Galliano, Rick Owens, Dries van Noten etc. The other branch on Rue Herold is more 'underground' with labels like Carel Christian Poell and Number Nine.

Sounds really cool, but I need more than one store! ::p:)

Hit me!

LaFayette and Printemps Homme also carry some Dior Homme stuff. of course Dior boutiques too... one on av Montaigne, another on rue Royale.

I made a file, as a guide of little boutiques for a magazine in paris o I tell you what I remember.

Go to Surface to Air first its 21 rue de l'arbre sec tube station pont neuf, the 7th line. they sell their own brand which is quiet cool along with belgian designers like stephan schneider and they have a wide spread of designers with reasonable prices.

Go to colette eventually you get many options. 213 rue saint honore tube: tuileries.

Dont skip maria luisa for gilles rosier bernard willhelm and many other its next to rue cambon again by rue saint honore same tube station.

Someone already mentioned eclaireur but I personnally find there unappealing to shop ı dont know.

for small designers of course you must go to marais, the gay district which is on tube stations hotel de ville and st paul. there you have,

noir kennedy which started the cheap monday trend in paris they also sell true rock nd roll outfits such as april77 which is a skinny jeans brand and neology which makes great skinny vests cardigans and they are quiet reasonable. it is on 22, rue du Roi de Sicile. bsically on tht street you have a lot of boutiques.

just on the other side of the street you have pressing shop. they sell avantgarde flashy outfits but they generally have the most unparisian unique items if you dare.

you have 0044 in marais, comme des garcons on 54 Rue du Faubourg St-Honoré which is hidden in courtyard and spree at 16 rue la Vieuville montmartre.

anyway along with these shops you have other options such as lafayette printemps, bon marche. but i recommend you to start with dior homme boutique in madeleine which is on 25 Rue Royale 75008 and is the most quiet and best one IMO and then go the ones I mentioned here and then go to the big ones if you have time and money left.

hope it helps a teenager who is keen on good fashion like you.

Oh my goodness, these tips are so useful! Thank you very much!

The store that I fell the most for, just by reading your description, was the on with the belgian designers and their own brand. That's probably what I'm looking for mostly, places where you can buy really cool designed stuff for affordable prices. I liked the tip about the store with the Cheap Monday-jeans, seeing Swedish fashion is always fun when you're abroad, even though April77 isn't my favorite. :p^_^

And thanks for the tip about the DH-boutique, since I'm only there a short time I might not have time to visit all the places that sell Dior.

Excuse if I'm asking too many questions, but I'm gonna continue anyways. Whick APC-store is the best one, cause the way I've understood it there's more than one, right? And if anyone has more stores like the ones posted, kepp em comin'! :D:flower:^_^

there's the old one on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and a new one opened earlier this year on Avenue Montaigne..

I have become extremely americanized and am used to working out about 1-2 hours per day. So I am looking for a gym in Paris that has cardio machines (elliptical, bikes, etc). I am in Paris for at least 6 weeks and cannot do without a gym or else I might go crazy. I am living in the 18e and working in the 7e. Does anyone have any recommendations? Merci in advance. ;)

Hey there!
I'm kinda looking for the same as ludde was. only for womens clothing ;)
Can anyone of you tell me some good places for shopping in paris? I have no idea what brands they have and where to shop.
I'm looking for stuff which should cost about what the clothes e.g. in zara and mango cost --> so please no too expensive stuff(can't afford that)
Hope you can help me!

I am going here around 10th of January does anyone know when the January sales on?i want to try and go to as many markets as I can 2.I have been to paris lots of times but usually 2 see friends and I end up going to usual shops etams,H&m etc…I remember once I was in momatre(wrong spelling) and I went into this vintage shop cant’t remember the name, but I seen this beautiful Jackie o white coat really cute and not expensive so I was going to go back later and buy it but totally forgot!

:woot: This thread is simply great, I love Paris and I think is the best for shopping!!!

Choccie the sales usually start after the Christmas holidays, so around the beginning of january, when I was there, 2 years ago, they started the 10th if I don't remeber wrong.
I usually like to go to Gap because here in Italy we don't have it, another good place is the one JamieCD was talking about: www.lavalleevillage.com is a big commercial center and they have a lot of shops with a lot of sales, is on the RER A on the direction of EuroDisney. I've found a lot of great things there.
There are also greats shops in the Marais area, it's in the 3ème arrondisement, between place des Vosges and the Cantre Pompidou, and the area is very nice with all open also on sunday!

It's one year that I don't go to Paris and I will be there at the end of january, if somebody as others adveces or tips, will be wellcome!!! :flower:

guys, I am reading the thread and also planning my trip in Paris...on Balenciaga website, the boutique address is:
10, avenue Georges V
75008 Paris
But I couldn't locate it by using google map. Could you point out if the format of the address is wrong? where exactly is it? thank you!
