Paris shopping

i'd go to la porte de vanves instead.. i've been to clignancourt several times without any luck (but many times lost somewhere outside la périférique without knowing how to get back to where i came from  ).. porte de vanves is open every weekend from 7am until the afternoon.. it's in the 14th and you can get there with metro #13 (south bound) or the tramway T3 (or velib' of course :D )..
hope you have a blast in paris! :flower:

btw, pucci mama.. you should definitely go to Dider Ludot in Palais Royal.. their price tags can be rather surreal but it is not impossible to make a good deal and their selection is impeccable.. :winkiss:

Thanks a lot mettchen.
I am making a little list over places to shop and that has now been put there. ;)
I want little gems that are unique to Paris...

I am staying in a hotel on Champs-Elysées, I can't wait.

Btw, I am looking for good places to eat really want something authentic as I usually holiday in the south of France where the food is fantastic. I have had a rather hard time finding great food in Paris that lives up to that. Anyone?

anyone can tell em id there is any outlet of J.M.Weston?

i really like the crocdile belt but 800e kinda 2 much!
i know that they are based in limoges but dunno if there is an factory outlet

merci!

So my mom is heading to Paris next Week and I want her to look for the Chanel Penguin sweater (white one with red stripes). Has anyone seen this anywhere / know the price for it? It's sold out in London and the US and I need to find it! Thanks!

why not give them a call first?
the french ppl are very professional @buziness

^I think it's best to do just that. Maybe even the SA at your Chanel store can contact the Paris boutiques to know if the sweater is available.

Im already planning my next trip to Paris in July and was wondering when the sales started, around what date and week? Also I know in August or late July everything closes, for how long does that last and when does that start. Thanks in advance.

^Lemeray, no date is set yet for SS sales but usually it usually starts before people go on vacation. So, let's say late June/ early July.

I know school summer holidays begin on the 4th of July. I guess it'll be around June 25th - July 3rd.

Now about stores closing down, it's really not the majority anylonger. I mean it depends on which boutiques and of the neighborhood of course. Berthillon's ice cream store is famously closed during summertime for instance...:doh::rolleyes:

Some stores just close around August 15th because the city is really dead at that time but "time is money", so more and more stores stay opened in July and August.

Maybe you should precise which store you're interested in so that I can be more helpful but you still have a lot time to prepare!

All the good stuff is pretty much gone at the large stores like Printemps etc but if you go to the small shops you should find something decent and they've further reduced the prices :)

make sure you tell her to go to Rue Cambon.
There's no mens lines in the other stores in av Montaigne, nor Rue Royale, nor St. Honoré ;)

and she will sure have to ask the SAs to see if there is any left. Last time i was there, the men line was inside a tiny closet and very very very few pieces left!! :ninja::ninja:

yes, tsumori chisato has a store located in le marais -from what i recall it's situated on rue barbette which is a side street from rue vieille du temple (on the right side if you're coming from rue de rivoli).. i don't remember if it's situated in the 3rd or 4th though but i'm fairly sure it's the 3rd. :flower:

you're very welcome..
if you're staying on champs-élysées you should definitely go to the ladurée - if not for their gorgeous cakes then for their macaroons (and if you don't like them yourself, they make really good presents to bring home) or just for a nice cup of tea in gorgeous surroundings.

i must say that one of my favorite places in paris is le marais. if you come from champs-élysées you can jump right on the metro #1 and get off at either st. paul or hôtel de ville.. in the department store bhv you will find anything.. it's not so great for clothes but anything else.. then, make sure to find rue vieille du temple.. they offer plenty of cosy, little shops and you will find all the french labels such as sandro, les petits, comptoir des cotonniers, manoush, zadig et voltaire, etc there.. also in that area you have two of the l'eclaireur stores (the women's store is on rue de rosiers, where you also find the jewish quarter and the best falafel in paris)..
and if you like ice cream or hot chocolate go to amorino.. they have stores on both vieille du temple and then on rue st. martin right in front of centre pompidou (which always offers an interesting exhibition or two-- and if not, george the restaurant on top of the museum offers a beautiful, panoramic view of paris and great -but slightly overprized- food)..

i can recommend some restaurants to you but what kind of food are you looking for? authentic french? and in which arrondisements?

Is there a flea market in Paris? and where? am curious.

J'aime Parissss :-P living there inspired me enough to learn French.

I just back from Paris and one day we went out to the Marche aux Puces flea market at the Clingancourt metro stop, it was really cool. Tons of vintage, ranging from 5000+euro Birkins to random junk. Defintely worth a trip, it's only open Saturday, Sunday, Monday though.

the clignancourt flea market is really a thing you have to do if you're going to Paris. I think it's the biggest in the world! It's every week from saturday to monday (morning-late afternoon). but I'm more into thrift stores, they are less stressing in Paris because I can't stand doing my shopping around so many people that you can't walk properly! :/
