I wasn't sure if I should have made this a formal topic or not but I thought some may have wanted to give opinions since I know some of you are fans.

Anyway,I could not find any pics to actually upload but I did see that Hint had the collection on their new flash slideshow format.

It looks good.

Whoa this looks really cool, i picked up WWD yesterday he had a really good review. Love that big mini skirt thing!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the corset detailings. The very first view on there, there's actually some great things. I wasn't too keen on the t'shirt-y bits but the rest was really impressive.

thx scott...all those pics were great...!!

You're welcome everybody.

I think this is by far my favorite of NY.

Oh, wow beautiful, the skinny pants with grey dress. Beautiful.... I love Patrik... This is one of his best collections. He usually only has a few pretty outfits, but this time, I like it so much, all of it, oh well mostly!!!!! Though my fave will always be the S/S 03....

Sorry. I was at Patrik's show and I was not happy. He had a great turnout this time but I was totally disappointed. I can never decide if his designs lack because he isn't properly funded, or because he really isn't that talented. I think it may be a combination of both. I do know that I'm a little tired of always giving Patrik the benefit of the doubt. He's had quite a few seasons to prove himself and I really don't know anymore if the talent is there. For fans of Patrik, please point out ONE professionally, maturely finished garment he has produced. This collection especially is very basic and amateur, from the t-shirts to the cheap dirndl skirts.

First of all, the colors... that watermelon pink is so done to death and pretty inappropriate for a winter show. Second of all, the materials... almost everything was in cotton. Again, cotton for a winter show? He may not have LVMH behind him but how can someone not afford wool and proper winter fabrics? Sorry to be so negative here. But just because someone is young and anti-establishment doesn't automatically make them a genius in my eyes. I think the show looks much better on Hintmag than it did in person. I hope his site is updated soon so everyone can see the whole collection.

Well, you're right there. He has never been trained professionally nor does he actually sell anything to any shop. Everything is made-to-order according to his web site.

As for fabrics:again,I have to agree with that as well. It is indeed the same stuff he's been doing over and over, and obviously it is cotton or cotton jersey.

Maybe, its just the style we all like? I've never see his stuff up close so I can't really say that he's the best craftsman. I do think he has a wonderful creative and visual side to his work but I don't about the rest, really.

And I understand what you're saying about being young and anti,it's just that the stuff he's done thus far,has been really refreshing and interesting. Maybe not the best quality but there's always room for improvement...I mean he's still only 22,I think.

He started out really young, and even if he was really an amateur, which I don't think he is, he's a million times better than most designers out there. His creations are always refreshing to look at, it's totally new and different from the usual fashion clothes we see. I love him, I am sure with better funding his stuff could be better, but it's already great. But I personally don't mind cotton if you know how to work with it the way he does:

His style of presentation is pretty cool as well. I also like the fact that he does his clothes with friends at his own home. He's a very talented guy.

I understand what you're saying, kimkhuu. But I don't agree with your defense that he's 'a million times better than other designers'. I don't wanna compare Patrik to others. Baby Phat may be better than Heatherette, but that doesn't mean that Baby Phat is creative or interesting.

Patrik's aesthetic is just a little too plain and basic for me. And I feel like the fashion community has given him a chance to grow up but he hasn't. He's still very young, I know, but I think the elements he commonly plays with are a little tired and overdone. I think his spring 2004 show was his best and nothing he's done since then has really made an impression on me.

A Frind of mine who worked with him last season was always impressed with the quality of the fabrics ( they are mostly all from italy mills), also that Patrik does a fair amount of private orders and now sells to a few places in Japan. i guess it's the aesthetics and themes... you either get it or you don't
No, I'm pretty sure I get it. It's fashion, after all. Not astrophysics. And it's not like my favorite label is Dsquared or something. By all counts, I SHOULD love Patrik's stuff because it is certainly in the same vein as many of my favorite designers. It's just sorely lacking in workmanship and technique. Pretty simple.

I think the fact that it's simple and some pieces are unfinished is just his style. To each their own, I simply love it. I do understand your point of view though, Metal. ;)

To you, perhaps... I still love Heatherette :(
The truth about Patrik Rzepski for me is that I really don't care much about his craftsmanship, or detailing. It's not as if I'll ever find myself wearing any of it regardless. I'm only an ignorant civilian, but I like his dresses simply because of their lines and form. That being said, I still don't love this collection.

It was just an example I was using. I'm very diplomatic in my dislike of them. I hate both Baby Phat and Heatherette equally.
