ah, thank you, i never knew what kind of illustrations she did.
they're nice but they lack something for me...
except for the bird^_^

for me they have a very primitive quality to them..almost like outsider art....they seem unfinished, or unrefined..i'm not sure what it is, but i think it's very...commercial or not as fine art based as i like. i like her use of color and the trees on the bottom...but the majority of her work just looks like illos you'd find in magazines in the doctor's office or something :lol:

i bought a postcard set for my collection, and the bird was part of the set, which is why i bought it! :heart: i love that one too.

yes i agree about the primitive quality, but it isn't used as a strenght so much... i think if you realize there is something that would actually be a flaw in your work you have to turn it into its strenght ... does that make sense?

it does make sense and i totally agree...that's what i meant by it feeling more commercial than like fine art...like she's a primitive artist, but instead of exploring that to its fullest potential (like maybe if it were done with a fine art feeling) she is skimming the surface and it's feeling more commercial. does that make sense? :lol:

the other postcards were a blue telephone pole and one i don't remember but didn't like quite as much. her business cards are beautiful though!

here is the telephone pole one..i can't find the third image:

it does, thank you:lol::heart:

i wish i could see your collection, sounds interesting!

oy, i just found my penelope postcards, here are the other 2 ( i was wrong about the bird one i posted about originally..it's not one of the 3, i think i was confusing it with the telephone pole one because there are birds in both)

oh anna my postcard collection is out of control - it's spilling out of ikea boxes like there's no tomorrow! i have so many! :lol: little pieces of art, really :heart:

cute stuff. love the bird images. they'd make good tattoos, no? ;P

ahhhh i :heart: the bird illustrations and the one of the two trees!! (i heard trees really do that, you know.):woot: does anyone know what medium she is using, especially for the tree and last bird illust? they kind of remind me of monoprints

bump *

does anyone remember this website where she had advice on how to be an illustrator? i remember she had a story about how she became to be one, and it's still on her website, but there was another one, more precise... it was talking about how to promote yourself through postcards, how to find clients to work for, etc.
i'm pretty sure she was the one who wrote it
or that it could have been connected with her Illustration Friday website...
