Personal Style Etc.

Fewormany wow, you must be the only person who have not bought anything black in that long time!
:shock::woot:

all i wear is black. it is the best.

^ Wow ... do you wear another color instead of black, like brown or navy?

I wear a lot of grey and navy as a 'dark neutral'.

Black is just way too harsh for me, but now I've found a coat that seems to work. Plus I only have to wear it outside. :innocent:

a very good friend recently suggested that i buy a pair of creepers......
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.....!!!!

:yuk:...

this is the same friend who once called me 'goth'...
this is obviously a confused person...

...

Just a few things I just cannot get into (^besides creepers)..
-raised hem on the pants/exposed ankles
-beards
-streetstyle shots
-fur in menswear

But, I must say, this shot certainly negates all of the above. The black socks take away from the look-at-my-ankles aspect of the raised hem look..the volume of the coat makes a nice contrast to the slimness of the pants..the brown fur lapel adds a fun touch to an all-black look..and throw on some shades, some ink, and voila--you got yourself one stylish man..Well done, whoever you are.

Well done indeed - I love it!

Also, creepers...possibly the ugliest shoes ever created. *shivers*

i agree...that guy looks awesome!

and thank you for the anti- creeper support...

i agree with you for the most part. beards are a deal breaker for me. there are a few thom browne looks where the hem is slightly raised that look OK. that is browne's "thing".
most streetstyle shots are as choregraphed as any ballet IMO.

my friend bought a pair of pants that i really should have bought...
i think i am going to go to her house and steal them...
:ninja:...

I truly hate it when clueless people try hard to put a label on you and fail misserably. Why do they feel the need? I'm just not wearing jeans. Deal with it.

^ They are just doing what makes them comfortable, I imagine ;) Personally I like to be surprised, but I think a lot of people would be happy if we all jumped into pigeon holes and stayed there forever. A lot of people don't like to be startled ...

Can you raise one eyebrow? Do that next time :D

I do explain the difference between what they are saying it looks like and what it actually is
I always thought people have to put a label on you otherwise it's unknown and frightening, and that's why they do it.

chin up lucille...
shoulders back, head held high...
if they are confused, then you're doing something right...
;)

so far i still haven't found the right belt for my needs...
i just found three belts that might work...
ordered them with fingers crossed that at least one will be good...

:lucky:

They don't get to me, just annoy me.
How did it go with the belts?
I've been feeling a slight need to change everything I wear and have been making a lot of clothes.
I think a couple of things altered my way of dressing: I had to have surgery over a broken leg last year and I can't get on a pair of heels yet. And the other factor is that since I took up a skating sport (roller derby) I cannot wear anything flowy or below the knees three times a week. That narrows it a lot down. However, I think I manage to make that a reason to explore and try new things in order to stay me but still be sporty-friendly. I've skated in a tie, a vest and so on. It's another way of having fun while dressing.

My style,..geee
I wear a lot of black. It's very convenient; I can get dressed up very fast w/ out thinking of matching colours and not worry if I spill something on me. I also like navy a lot and my favorite colour combination is navy/black.
And I also wear boots w/ a heel. I want to be tall!
I usually don't have much time in the morning so I'm depending on clothes w/ a good fit and that are versatile.

I'm not so much into colours, but I'm fanatic about proportions and fit.

all the belts went back...i decided to get rid of the things that need a belt rather than go through this continuous search...
i'm over it~!
...

it's amazing that you can get on skates but not on heels ...
:D

My wardrobe is in need of some grey basics. I bought a lot of different colours lately, but I need some great neutrals to pull it all together. Today I started with a great quilted shirt (and a light grey/neon belt, bit less basic ) from COS.

Now the rest..

Yep, it's ridiculous, but it still hurts from time to time, I don't know... I've bought 3 pair of shoes in these past 6 months that I haven't been able to use yet :rolleyes:

I decided the other day to get ride of most of my wardrobe in order to buy things that correspond me better (basically get ride of everything I still had from high school :p)
I was wondering if anyone could help me find affordable brands that maybe I never heard of before. To help indicate what I like, the designers I love are the six of antwerp and japanese designers (dries van noten, margiela, raf simons, demeulmeester, comme des garcons, issey miyake, yohji, etc) (and add to that: proenza schouler, givenchy, lanvin, etc) and I'm kind of grungy "sur les boards" :D
