Personal Style Etc.

i found jeans!!!
:buzz::buzz::buzz:

after missing out on those jeans last season, i thought i was out of luck...
but my obsessive nature took over and i actually found a pair that is almost as good...
by some random italian brand i never heard of...
they are great...
they are HUGE!...
...
someone else might think they are too big, but i love them belted and rolled up...
great dark blue wash with a fade in front and the best bit is they have diagonal hip pockets, like trousers~!

yattah!

...

so happy happy ...
*does little tap dance of joy*
:bounce:

they go with everything and will be the perfect thing to bring on my trip...
weeeeeeeeee....:magic:

so---
do i replace the prescription frames i just lost or make do with the ones i already have?

the sunglasses cannot be replaced- they are sold out
the sacai sweatshirt is also sold out- but maybe it will turn up somewhere eventually...

the prescription frames are the only thing i can get back...
cost:
$300 for frames
$350 for lenses

i've been bummed out for days...
not sure if i should just get new frames to cheer myself up...
or if i should just take it as a lesson to be more cautious with my things...

writing that out seems a bit crazy now---
why on earth would i punish myself, right?!

i should get the frames, i think...
:innocent:

or do i go to warby parker and get a cheap frame in case is happens again...?!
they have some blue ones that look pretty nice...

i am actually pretty skeptical of warby parker. first of all their lenses are polycarb which can make lenses too thick esp. if you are nearsighted and have a strong prescription.

also their frames are too big for people with strong prescriptions.

what is the code number of the frames you lost?

soft, what do you think of the bobbi brown frames? i just bought one and i love it.

i know about 10 people who got WB frames when they first came out and they all loved theirs...
i just thought their styles were too 'safe' for me, personally...
i just ordered these frames from them...
apparently they will ship them to me and then i have 30 days to decide if i want to keep them, so it seems like it's worth a try at least...

i was looking for blue frames about a yr or two ago but never found one i liked and since then they've added new styles so it made sense to give them a shot...
i like that the arms are brown, not blue...
makes them seem more european and more expensive than they are, imo...

i saw your frames in the other thread lucy---
i didn't even know that she is making sunglasses and frames now...
i had a look at some online and they are quite nice...
not really what i'm looking for though...
*cat eyes look especially terrible on my face...
:ninja:...

i don't know what the number code is for the frames i lost
they are by anne et valentin...
very round with a flat top...
this is a pic of my lost frames (top) and my frames from college (bottom)
i'm toying with the idea of just having my current prescription put into my old frame...
:innocent:...

i used to work in the optical lens industry.

my advice would be to keep googling the brand name. set up an ebay alert so potential matches can be emailed to you.

a LOT of optical shops keep back stock in their basements. there's no way to send it back. so the store you got it from may still have it. or the store may still have the lookbook in it with the code listed.

do you mean have your current lenses recut to fit an another frame? if so, that's nearly impossible without breaking the lens.

interesting...
the shop i got them from is actually the anne et valentin shop itself-
they opened one here recently and they do have the sunglasses, just not in that color anymore...olive green...

i was talking about putting a new lens in my old frames actually...
i have had old lenses put into new frames as well, though...
a few times
usually a much bigger original frame's lens put into a much smaller frame...
that worked really well...
i guess they were big enough so there was enough lens to work with...
didn't know it could be so complicated...

i'll try the ebay thing as you suggest for the sunglasses though...
can't hurt!
in the meantime i got some cheapo sunglasses from a street vendor yesterday...

i also accosted several people on the street and in shops to ask them about their frames......
you could say i've been slightly obsessed...
hopefully these little cheapos will abate my obsession...

thanks for your input lucy!

very pleased...
i put 1/2 soles on 11 pairs of shoes/boots...
ELEVEN~!!!
*including my yohji booties...

...

the results are fantastic...
made them all instantly more comfortable to walk in...
more traction is always a good thing...
felt like dancing in all of them...
yattah!

...

i spent the weekend in the country and came back by train...
as I took the subway back downtown, i was struck over and over by all the super stylish ladies on the train...

it's easy to take it for granted, but NY really does have some stylish people...
it is good to be back home~!

So funny how ONE little thing can change everything.
I was bored the way I looked.
No money to buy anything and I actually don't like buying clothes.
Anyway, just for fun I just tried earrings and wowwowwow, they really do change whole apperiance!!!!
I have tons of different kind of earring and now I don't look "boring" hah hah.
The beeeeeest thing ever!

^ I also am a big fan of earrings. I always keep my hair behind my ears and I just recently became infatuated with earrings. I actually came in this thread specifically to say that even though I am pretty professional in my appearance at work, I like to mix it up with fun earrings.
Off work I pretty much live in a black hoodie and yoga pants. I used to love dressing up for everything and anything, but I've gained some weight so now fortunately all my work clothes still fit, everything else? Not so much.

earrings are great~!

i finally wore my yohji booties in the best way ever-
with my yohji handkerchief hem skirt and a boxy isabel marant modified henley...
i am certain that yohji would approve...
oh happy day!

:magic:

my azzedine alaia heels are shocking well proportioned and comfortable despite being an incredibly high and narrow stiletto heel...

now that is what i call good design...
:woot:

^ Very interesting ... I don't think I've ever had a stiletto I could really call comfortable.

Well, the weather has shifted, so I've shifted from my usual gaudy tie dye t-shirts to my sexy dress shirts and paisley ties. Paisley is a nice way to keep some of the psychedelic aspects that are present in the tie dye while still looking classy.

party all the time...

blk tie wedding last weekend meant that i got to wear my long YSL gown, my fendi minaudiere and my alaia heels with a little fur jkt...
yay!

surprise party this weekend meant that i got to wear my sacai cable knit sweater, my YY cropped pants, my martine sitbon ankle boots w. the bow at the back (and mini fishnets) and my issey miyake clutch... little fur jkt again...
yay yay!

so happy so many of my pretty pieces are getting to go out and play...
weeeeeee!!!
...

today i wore my new af vandevoorst long chunky cardigan w. my old marni voluminous coat and my debbie harry style 3/4 kitten heel boots...
so good!
yay again!...
...

today was so windy that it felt super cold and as a result i just cared about being warm and looked completely horrible as i woke up late and had no time to get ready and just grabbed some warm stuff and threw it on...
then- we went to a bunch of the coolest places in the city and every time i caught a glimpse of myself in a reflection i started laughing cause i think it is so funny that of all the times for me to look ridiculous, this was the just the most ridiculous...

oh well...tomorrow's another day...
^_^...
