Pet Shop Boys

introspectiveness

I am on such an obsessive PSB phase lately its wild.
listening to frankie knuckles mix of 'i want a dog' right now.
since last fall ive bought the 'further listening' remasters of actually, very, introspect, bilingual.
bought disco 2
bought alternative [so MANY brill b-sides!]
bought an ebay 4 cd compilation - 'flamboyant' 'were the psb' 'jack & jill party' - and 40 more classic rareties.
bought the 'before' 6 mix cd 45.

everybody knows 'west end girls' and maybe 2 or 3 of their 20 other hit singles- but they dont realize that EVERY PSB LP is fantastic in its entirety!

and EVERY B-Side is a must have!!
and theyve worked with the BEST re-mixers/producers in dance.pop:
knuckles- morales- tenaglia- vasquez- moroder- trevor horn- trouser enthusiasts- Expose's producers!! [luis martinez on domino dancing]. - lots more!

that Johnny Marr is all over 3 cds!! ; liza minelli!!; dusty springfield!!

next up: buying further listenings of please, behaviour, & disco I, very relentless and disco III.

then buying Pop Art THREE CDs.
THEN buying Nightlife with the SECOND remix cd!!

imo EVERY psb song & cd is a MUST!!! theres a lot more to life than west end girls!!
next post- fave songs on each CD!!

WE shld do a poll of TEN BEST PSB songs!!!!

You will laugh, my favourite types of music are Jazz, Latin and Classical with SOME old-school RnB. My favourite artists are Michael Jackson, Brahms, Robert Palmer and the buena vista social club.

:blush::shock:

cool!

I LOVE jazz!! latin & bosaa nova too!!
Id like you to educate me to classical!! I like it!!

tons of soul r&b funk & michjael jackson too!!

I believe almost every style of music has something to offer & I will listen to it except Im not so into speedcore death metal & too much gangster hip hop makes me crazy but some of it is great.
everythibng else is good.

btw the pet shop boys have a huge r&b clasical & pop/soul latin influence but you might not know it

chris + neil

we should each do our 'psb top 10' and see what tracks we think are their very best.
also did some one do a thread for the smiths/morrissey yet?
what about blur? they dressed really well during parjklife & modern life is rubbish.
and the 'leisure' baggy/manc stuff is hilarious.
also suede always dressed real hot, Im in love with those boys.

They do indeed have alot of inflluences, I'm just not hot on the 'electronic 80's' type sound. But I totally agree that every style of music has something to offer.

Top 10 favorite Pet Shop Boys songs ...

Ok, I am just going to list my top ten favorite Pet Shop Boys songs, sort of randomly, not by album as someone suggested in the other post.

In no particular order

I Want To Wake Up
Flamboyant
One and One Make Five
In The Night (either version)
Jealousy
Always on my mind
Yesterday, When I was mad
This must be the place I waited years to leave
Can you forgive her
DJ Culture

Love comes quickly
Rent
suburbia
It's a sin
Being boring
What have I done to deserve this?
how can you expect to be taken seriously?
Heart
Left my own devices
Opportunities

all of them all time chilhood favorites :flower:

I believe in sexy chris

it's 'so hard' to narrow it down to just 10 but I will try to name a few of my mega-favourites, many I share with the tasteful PSB fanatics above:

1 and 1 Make 5
love comes quickly
its alright
what have i dont to deserve this?
rent
being boring
this must be the place I waited years to leave
kings cross
the night I fell in love [with eminem]
before

now another question: what are their 3 best LPs...??

it is very hard to water my list of favorites down to only ten, but here are some...in no particular order, i guess...

- rent
- heart
- what have i done to deserve this?
- i want to wake up
- this must be the place i waited years to live
- west end girls
- suburbia
- always on my mind
- domino dancing
- opportunities (let's make lots of money)

The pet shop boys definatley make good videos, you dont see too much of that these days, you might want to check out the popart dvd, if your a fan its a must, i just wish it had flamboyant and miricles on it.

Prof, the pet shop boys are great you know it, they are one of my favorites, and if tapped in the head means going on these message boards becasue school is so boring then your right.

in the 1920s

everyone who thinks they dont like psb should be tied in a chair and made to listen to actually, behaviour or very continuously for 24-72 hours & following that they will surely be converted to the unbeatable ecstacies of chris n neil.

yes its worth it.

Being boring video is a piece or art by Bruce Webber ^_^

plus johnny marr is all over that incredible track with the heartbreaking evocatively poetic words & you gotta hear the almost 15 min version with the harold faltermayer/moroder synthed up beat box breaks and johhny going wah wah mad like its the melancholy version of 'the queen is dead.'

'behaviour' lp = brilliant.
