Phoebe English F/W 2015.16 London

so glad you could get this up. definitely one of my favourite new designers.

Scott's post in the "top collections of the season" thread lead me here.

Minimalism of a different variety with her, such attention to the fabrics/materials, and so romantically piece together. This coat is divine: http://postimg.org/image/3wh9azoxx/

Can't wait to see more from her.

it's very conceptual so it's not going to be for everybody but i think anybody who's been searching for creative talents who are pushing things but with thoughtfulness, she is certainly one of them. i said it on the MM thread and i really do feel like designers like her and faustine steinmetz are really the ones who i'm looking at in carrying that torch where MM left it.

you're welcome! have to give some credit to inge grognard for pointing me toward her last season,as she does the make-up for phoebe. since then i have fallen madly in love with what she does. i think seeing her work has totally restored my excitement about fashion again and certainly in the direction fashion may be heading as well. i think what impresses me is how she interprets her influences in her own way....there are certainly technical nods to margiela's sense of draping, susan cianciolo's poetic haphazardness and helmut lang's sense of material and texture....the gauziness and latex especially are aspects he utilised.

Agree with everything you said, I find her work fascinating. Her presentations are also always very visually exciting. Melissa Baumeister is another young designer who I've been following for the past year or so, she designs in a similar vein although admittedly her clothes are slightly more commercial http://www.melittabaumeister.com :flower:

^loving what she's been doing as well. and she's also based in NY which is so wonderful for NY fashion. there's a lot of kids coming out of parsons at the moment with a lot of ambitious and inspiring ideas, thanks notably to iconic british designer turned professor shelley fox.
