“Wake Up” by rock band Arcade Fire was the springboard for Jaewan Park’s youthful collection, which featured classic sportswear with subtle athletic and military references. Short-sleeved sweatshirts were styled over shirts, and T-shirts displayed graphics derived from the vibration of sound. The outerwear hit a high note. A classic trenchcoat made from Japanese waterproof fabric was freshened up with a white collar, while shirtlike cuffs brought an unexpected touch to a lightweight bomber jacket. Denim was clean and raw with inverted contrast cuffs and a subtle camo print.

Although this is only his second time showing in New York City, Park, who started Plac as a denim brand, has a hefty retail presence in Asia with 80 stores in South Korea and five stores in China. He plans to open a New York City store later this year. The sportswear aesthetic may play well at retail, but it’s not moving the needle when it comes to designer trends.
