thanks for posting these runner...
reminds me of the old days when irving penn used to shoot for issey...
the photos are not quite as brilliant (penn was, after all, the master), but these are still quite nice...

Pleats Please seems to have gotten a make over recently...
maybe it has been this way for a time already in Japan, but i do not recall seeing all these different shapes and silhouettes...
more modern styles like the drop crotch pant and the 'denim' jacket, etc...
for so many years there were just the same limited number of shapes/styles...
i've always wanted something from the line, but none of the styles worked on my body shape, so this renews my interest greatly...

makes me curious about what's going on with them now...
and makes me want to visit the tribeca store...

i think what i'd really like is some kind of long tunic top to wear over leggings or some kind of long sculptural coat/duster/jacket...

it seems that these were part of the collections in the 80's or so...
but i rarely see them anymore...

Beautiful. I wish the men's line was as wide and available as the women's though.

you are welcome softgrey
they seem to have been doing some sort of anniversary campaign since around 2012 and yes look as if they now have a bit broader interpretation of the original pleats please concept.

irving penn for miyake
pleats making process just for reference

i'm recognizing this more now...
nougat is a cute name...
i think i like this stuff...

what do you think?

is it lower priced--?
maybe for a younger market?

considering it was featured in so-en, yes probably they are more conscious of a younger market.
it's fun. it's aluminum that makes it possible to play with the form, like some sort of dough.
the prices are relatively good.
two new series from this fall, "enamel" and "matte"
the cubic "boston" 36000 yen, the larger thinner boston 38000, the cube pouch 22000, the backpack 40000, the clutch 25500.

OH!- aluminum!...
now the name makes sense...nougat, like soft candy you can mold...!!!
^_^
runner- thanks for introducing us to the line and for the additional info...
:flower:

i was going to say that i like the round one best---
but after reading your prices and descriptions i am realizing that the 'round' one is actually a cube one molded into that shape!...
sugoi~!
:woot:

i imagine that would be beautiful in matte black...

so interesting...
i would love to play with it and see what shapes it can do...
i guess the clutch could be fun too...
yes- now that i understand more i think all the shapes are very interesting...
the whole concept it really excellent...
i love that you can put your own personal touch onto the design...
the ultimate form of customisation!
no two will ever be the same!!!
so cool!
...

found this on pinterest-
NOUGAT Pleats Please ISSEY MIYAKE The name of the collection derives from the French soft candy “nougat.” The bags are made from aluminum, and each bag can be shaped into the desired form just like clay.

ps- i love the pants she is wearing in the left side pic.........
actually- i love the whole thing she is wearing...^_^
