Can I ask a really stupid question?
Why are polaroids of models taken? why does it have to be polaroids? why not just with a regular camera? Maybe for efficiency to quickly take the pictures to an agency?
Also is it mandatory that the model wears no makeup in the polaroids?

Sometimes they use digitals and sometimes they use polaroids. Polaroids are easier because theyre instant and smaller, so there is no shrinking, or printing that needs to be done. Often times at castings they'll want to ese how the model looks immediately to decide on whether to use them or not. Using a digital camera would just take extra time.

As for the makeup, they want to see the models without it because then they are able to see what they are able to do to her, and not what she can do to herself.
