POLLINI BY RIFAT OZBECK
WITH shoes by Georgina Goodman and straw matador hats that were eccentric as only Philip Treacy can be, Rifat Ozbek took the season's Italian romance and injected a little matador fun on the Pollini catwalk this evening. Not known as one of the week's most exciting shows, this time he gave it a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere that eased his audience into the rigours of Milan Fashion Week. Waists went up to empire line on soft silk day dresses, where they met plunging V-necks that sometimes had medals of clustered safety pins falling from them. Elsewhere, the Turkish-born designer played a more complicated game with the waistline, strictly sitting high for spring summer, by putting cropped full cardigans over slimmer, longer blouses over silvery pencil skrits. Sexy senoritas appeared in curvy dresses with cap sleeves featuring delicate floral prints, and short capes fell off the shoulders of matador jackets and black chiffon cocktail dresses.
