No no...I have and I will continue..I was refering to the size of the hugest pom pom's in the pictures..and Ocean talking about hers being even bigger. :flower:

LOL...oh good...that is too beautiful to hide!!! ^_^
i made a HUGE pompom last night...hahaha...
still working on that scarf... bit by bit...

How big? and if it's as big at the biggest in the Vogue pictures..how will you wear it?

i guess i'll try to work it into the scarf...off to one side...and make it sort of assymetrical...

it's pretty huge...

^that one isn't dense enough, it looks lopsided and loopy.

I'm gonna wear my scarf in NYC for shure.

Have any of you tried brushing your pompons to make them more dense and less looking like yarn, more like fuzz? Its really cool, use a hard, metal hairbrush and hold the pompon so that only like 1/4 of it is coming through your hand and then brush it like a mothafawker until its like a 70's fro.

it looks really cool

That sounds like the way to do it Ocean :flower: ..any ideas as to how Kenzo made his pom poms (the huge ones in the Vogue pics) look so flower like ?

There was a great editorial in an older vogue with a bunch of different coats that they pinned huge colorful pom-poms onto, they are quite dramatic...i like :woot:

I'm thinking that to get the exotic flower look, like that one large, fluffy one in the bottom left on the second pic, you would layer the colors of the yarn as you wind the yarn through the circles, green first, then yellow, then orange, then red as the final layer (the final layer will be a spot of color, the others will be stripey... i think)

then brush them out. Maybe use a fine wool yarn, not acrylic, so that its more fiberey and less curly when you brush it out.

maybe don't cut it into a perfectly spherical shape, leaving some parts longer to give that petaly look.

pics from eBay that I found and thought were totally cute...

Ocean, thank you for your insight! I agree..the yarn I have been using so far has been a wool and acrylic mix..and I don't think the acrylic would behave the way I'd want it to. Not cutting it into a perfect spher I think is the right approach to it as well..I'm thinking that I might have to hair-spray the longer parts to keep them together so that they wont "fall apart" ..maybe forming the longer brushed yarn with hairspray and fingers will make it get that flowerish look (I thinking of the purple-pink pom pom in the left side of the second pic) I hope it wont get sticky and ugly.

..when you have made the pom pom I've read it's a good idea to hold it over hot steam..I'm not sure why tho'
