i´m really enjoying being around! thank´s for moving the thread to here, i´m still trying to understand how everything works!
as for the names, the first picture is from alexandra moura and the others are from lara torres. lara just returned from england where she was working with alexander mcqueen for 6 months. she is a young designer who presented her first collection at lisbon fashion week. and she is also my teacher! all this photos are from the lisbon fashion week, for a/w06.

yes, i forgot to mention the sources... all images are from the modalisboa.pt website. felipe oliveira batista is also a great portuguese designer, but his work is best known outside portugal...

ritinha, it's nice to see this thread. Obrigado! It's also very nice to see that Ana Salazar is still around! I visited Lisboa in 1999 and I noticed her designs while I was there. And bought her perfume!

I am from Madeira, Portugal. But live in the U.S most of my life.I am now located in New York City. I have graduated from university a few years ago and now have my own menswear label that sells here in NYC. I have been interested in the portuguese fashion industry for a while and I would love to go to Lisbon to see it first hand.If only I could find the time. I hope to be there within the next year!

Hi!
I'm from Funchal 2! I used 2 like Fátima Lopes, but after her use of fur in her collections, I lost all consideration 4 her!
I saw Maria Gambina's collection at the Funchal Fashion week, which I was apart of.
I know a fantastic madeiran designer, Patricia Pinto.
The 1st 2 pics & the last 1 are some of Fátima Lopes designs & the other 4 are Patricia Pinto's.

fatima lopes is not on my favourite designers list but it is true that she is one of the best known outside portugal. i have to give her credit for that.

Sim moro. Ritinha és estilista? Maybe we could meet one day. I've modelled 4 Fátima Lopes when she was here in Madeira & I've done a few fashion shows here in Madeira (nothing special). I'd love to be a model & a fashion designer, (I'm in the last photo of Patricia Pinto's fashion show, in a pink dress). I'm Irish but I live here, in Madeira, because of my dad, he loves it here.
So, if you know anything about castings, fashion events or so on in Portugal, please let me know.

sou mais aspirante a designer de moda! i´m studying fashion design in porto. well, if you want to be a fashion designer i can advise you to come to porto, to citex, because it is the best fashion design school in portugal! most of the portuguese fashion designers have passed by citex; maria gambina, katty xiomara, nuno baltazar, luis buchinho...

Thanks for you're advice, but I think I want 2 study in London (where my best friend studies) at St.Martins, isn't there a school in Lisbon? You see, I want a bit of fashion, a bit of design, a bit of everything art related, (theatre, acting, dancing).

I think portuguese fashion is getting better each year, and it´s a shame that it´s not known internationaly.

st. martins is probably the best school to study fashion design in europe... if you have that opportunity i think you should go! i would go there too if i could!
