I've been meaning to post this for weeks, but I noticed so many childlike, girly clothes on the runway for spring. I think it's the combined effect of pastel colors and delicate fabrics/details, but overall there was a definite Lolita vibe running through the collections...with a twist, of course.

Great spotting as usual, Spike!, I love mood trends  . I like that this mixes that innocent girl from the valley vibe but it's very quiet, not to saccharine at all, just a lovely, perfect tendency for spring.

^ I agree. I think there's also a slight edge to this, an undercurrent of something kind of perverse that keeps it from being truly frou-frou.

I think my favorite take on this, in concept anyway, is the Chrisopher Kane stuff. It has a nice balance of naive and mature.

Yeah, I think Kane played best with this.. it's young and 'cute' but still there's something quite sensual about his collection that I just love.

For some reason all of these looks make me think of Courtney Love onstage in the 90s...

agreed, and hate it ;) largely because this sort of stuff looks SO STUPID on me for no apparent reason. i'll stick to my menswear, all-black, metal details, and asskicking boots here, thank you very much ;)

i lovelovelove this trend, its more along the lines of my style, mostly feminine and girly but with a little twist! also personally because i'm really quite tired of the erin wasson look and all the copies/lookalikes it's spawned :p

I love this look! It's nice to have very girly, fresh clothes on the runways for a change. I feel like the 80's "I'm so hard" trend is getting stale.

I feel like this is a reaction to the somewhat gloomy state of things in the world. Like this innocent spoon full of sugar to make the economic crisis go down.

lafindesiecle, I know where you're coming from. I can't do cute either. It just makes me feel like an overgrown child.
