Project Runway Season 3

This is a note from Angela from blogging project runway

...i am getting so much love mail and hate mail right now ... so this letter is for people who are open to an explanation.

i'll start off by telling you what i told tim gunn: it's not unusual for me to be misunderstood because i don't edit my enthusiasms very well. i really wanted to work with kayne because i wanted to bond with him creatively and personally. http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/3172/996/1600/AngelaDanielFranco.2.jpgwhen we met, we became instant best friends, laughing until our sides hurt. but my behavior put a wedge between us and understandably so - i realized at a later point how it looked (that i would want to be on his team because he was a pageant designer) and i apologized, telling him that i totally understood that he would want to choose robert. i was horrified that i had not considered how i was coming across. there is an old adage that goes: "think twice, speak once". well, needless to say, that is not one of my strengths. i knew i was getting on his nerves and when he said it to the camera, i wasn't surprised. that is my only regret on this show: that my behavior turned away a very warm and hilarious friend. this is unbelievably difficult to dish, but i wanted to give a shout out to hopefully clarify this situation.

in regard to my not sketching a design, it wasn't because i was giving up on the challenge. it was because sketching is not generally a part of my creative process. inspiration usually comes from the fabric itself or a specific feeling that i want to embody in the clothes. not all designers use sketches to convey their vision; i've read that yohji yamamato and isabel toledo design by conversing with their patternmakers (isabel actually tells her husband how she is feeling and then he sketches it out for her). and since i've produced my own line for the last 7 years, i've never been required to provide sketches.

in regard to vincent, there was a breakdown in communication coupled with high stress levels and i shut down. this was a huge personal failure and i know it. unfortunately, in the moment, i did not know how to handle it. the reason i was so vocal about his design was because i thought that both team members would be eliminated. and i was afraid of being eliminated by default. standing on that stage under those lights, in front of people who you feel have already convicted you, is truly harrowing and i wouldn't wish it on anybody. i felt as if i was drowning.

this was my huge lesson: i was acting out of fear and when you act from fear instead of love, you are guaranteed to mess things up. i understand why some people think i should have been off the show - i didn't want to see malan go, either.

thanks for reading,
angela

I don't know, it doesn't seem quite real to me. It almost sounds like she is just maing excuses for herself again.

Yes, and it all boils down to a single point: she didn't do anything!!!:blink: Angela should have gone home. :s

Listening to Tim's Take of the events sure is different from what was shown. I guess that's the magic of television....

to be honest i didnt like Ms.Kentucky aka Ms.USA 2006. Somehow Tara looked a bit bit**y and i saw a special on vh1 about the ms.usa contestants and yes she won the tittle of ms.usa but i have to say i saw better girls in there but oh well i guess i acnt change that. btw is she really going to wear kayne's dress for the ms.universe pageant? cause in the ms.usa thngy she used a white one with ruffles

yup yup. But we did see Vincent keeping Angela away and when Tim gave input he said ' that's okay' and kept going. I really wanna see Vincent go! He hasn't done anything impressive, he isn't a team player, and dear mother of pearl i hate the way he speaks! I just want him gone... he is a sore when i watch the show.

I am rooting for Robert and Laura now... and Angela as well :D

I don't know if anyone posted this already but I was skimming through April 2006 In Style and on page 159 Keira Knightley is wearing a Vera Wang gown that looks of the one that sent Malan home. I was rather shocked when In Style qouted, "Keira's Vera could turn out to be the an all-time great dress".

that was the one she wore at the oscars. quite a pretty dress and i love keira but i don't think it deserves to be an all-time great dress. malan's dress featured ruching that have more volume than the vera wang in question. if anything, in my opinion it looked like it belonged to fall '04 (right) or fall '05 (left) donna karan (vogue):

I agree. Vincent just bothers me. When he talks, and how he talks about things...............I feel that someone did a little too much drugs back in the 60s.

He's like that aging hippy..............who is desperately holding onto his youth etc. by trying to be an "artist". When really he's just a bad designer, and annoying.

I like Robert, Uli, and Alison. I have a distinct feeling that Robert is gonna win... that first dress he made was GORGEOUS! I loved the red bows in the back! I think he should have won that challenge!

i just wanted to put my 2 cents in that i love this show so much! its awesome! heidi is adorable...^^ thats all thanks!

just found some pictures from a Jane party with PR 2 and 3 folks hanging out with Heidi... Defamer has another picture of Robert and Heidi.

oh how interesting!

i watched this latest episode with the sound off the first time (i was on the phone) and seeing it only in context with the visuals, malan's was my favorite.

it was fascinating, i thought. he bugged the hell out of me up until he got booted, and then the things he said were so incredibly touching.

I think Robert, Alison, Laura and Uli will be the ones to watch. I hope someone pulls Vincent's awful rug off his head!

The Vera Wang dress was the same color, but did not have the detailed pintucking that Malan's dress had. Malan was showing off and trying to impress the judges with his ability to do detailed work. It ended up derailing him because it too so much time and didn't allow him to see the dress was too short. I think it was even worse that he didn't try to hem it. If he had hemmed it, it would have looked finished even if it was too short. He could have bs'ed them that he was going for a ballerina length to show off her legs.

I know, I know. His designs are very underrated, I wish he'd be given more of a chance. He probably doesn't cause enough drama to get enough camera time!

A letter from Vincent to Blogging Project Runway. . .

Dear BPR,

I recently got a call from H.A. Arnarson, who has been nominated for an Emmy for his editing on "survivior"....he will be up against the editor of "project runway." INSANE ....! i'll be doing a dress for his girl, Dana Del George, she's quite a beauty- guess this reality thing follows you around..ha.

Now the rest of the story...

"Looks like i didn't give angela enough stuff to do"

Well....

The editing didn't show angela ruining the lining.
She didn't know how to match up notches.
She didn't know that interfacing goes on the wrong side of the garment.

GOOD WORK..!
oh well ....had to recut and sew it myself--- FRUSTRATING....?

Yes, of course the viewers could see my frustration - just not why....

She says her designs are mistaken for Yves St. Laurent's.
Well, Yves St. Laurent knows where the interfacing goes!

Still, i wish her all the best.

vincent

^I agree with vincent i mena cmon angela didnt even know how to do gowns!! I am soo young and already made many gowns seriously maybe she just dont know how to make any
