Michael Kors talking about Jeffrey's dress:

"Excuse me that looked like Commes des Garçons designing for the Amish Country"

i was shocked that Kors dropped CDG! and if CDG did design something with an amish flair it would be AMAZING! kors only wishes he was so creative!

kors mom on the other hand! FIERCE!

You really need to listen to Tim Gunn's podcasts. They are the best. And also on his blog, he blasted Vincent's dress. When you listen to his podcasts, you realize that he really does not like Vincent at all.

Oh, thanks for this tip! Downloading them now:D I just discovered the whole podcast thing... and didn't know he had one. I'm so excited.

^^I haven't listened to today's podcast. I can't wait. Wait until you get to the Miss Universe podcast. Very interesting.

Tim Gunn has so much integrity and he says what is on his mind. Very refreshing. LOVE HIM.

They haven't put last night's podcast online yet. Rats.

Do you get it from iTunes? I checked for it this morning and it was available. I didn't download it though because I had to leave for work, but I'm sure I saw it on iTunes this morning.

I think some of you all are missing the point of the challenge. It was not simply to make an outfit for an "everyday woman" client. The designers were making an outfit to wear to an event hosted by Michael Kors' mother that combined the tastes of the client while including the designers' aesthetic. This was a chance to show their points of views and apply them to "everyday woman". I thought this was a very interesting challenge because it takes the designers away from their comfort zones and presents a real challenge. And keep in mind that Macy's is the sponsor for this season which is the department store for the "everyday woman".
Furthermore, I knew they wouldn't be designing for their respective moms/sisters. What kind of challenge would that be? None. The designers would be too comfortable.
That being said, I thought Jeffrey was the most unprofessional person ever. You don't treat a client like that otherwise you'd have no business. And I mean, come on, regardless of how he feels about Angela, that was her mother. Most people are taught to respect their elders. And his past troubles are no excuse for that kind of behavior.
I thought Vincent and Michael's were the best looking pieces up there. Robert's was just boring. I feel like he hasn't being trying at all since the first challenge. I was looking forward to Laura's design based on the sketch but it was disappointing. Uli's was very Uli which was fine. Angela had a bit of a challenge with Laura's mom which made for a boring ensemble. I was thinking where are the fluerchons.

I had the same thought as whoever posted vincent's comment about Uli's mom having a European feel. I was thinking hello? she's from Europe. And Mr. Kors. CDG in Amish country was hilarious.

I'm listening to it now! (through i-tunes).

Can we talk about how Laura is having a 6th child?!?! She was just keeping that information to herself? SIX kids! I hope she a girl... to mix it up a bit.

I can't imagine getting any work done with six little ones running around.

And I felt so bad that Laura's mom had to find out about the pregnancy that way. All Laura said was, "Oh, you didn't know?".

Did anyone else get a vibe that Laura's mom wasn't as particularly happy as a grandmother-to-be usually is? Maybe it was just because she was stunned... I don't know.

I sorta thought that too about Laura's Mom... but I'm hoping it was more of a "Your having ANOTHER child?!" type look.

^I think her Mom (whom she's known her whole life) was just a little peeved that Laura told her at the same time she told Michael Kors and his mother (whom she doesn't really *know*.)

However, it's not like it was her first or second child...her mom's heard it 5 times already. And she hadn't even told her husband yet! Isn't that what she said?

I agree with everything you said! And why all of the blasting on Angela's mom? She seemed perfectly sweet to me (she was answering Tim's question for God's sake!) and they said she worked for the Red Cross. Certainly the good work she does there is better than making craptastic, wannabe rock-n-roll dresses and being an all-around a-hole CONSTANTLY (feminazi anyone?).

Plus, if this were real life, he would have lost a client, straight up.

If they were designing for their mother's/sister's, they could handle their size issues more delicately. Robert, Uli, Jeffrey, Kayne had to walk very delicately. Some designers had it easier than others.
Some of those women did not feel comfortable up there -- Vincent's sister for one. I just wonder how much cajoling the producers had to do to get a family member there.
A Woman like Kayne and Michael's mother looked comfortable with their bodies, but Vincent's sister did not. I just hurt for some of those mothers and sisters. The thin ones were picked first, leaving the oversized ones for last. Just like picking teams for kickball on the playground. It was no better than getting guests on the Jerry Springer show. The family members thought they were coming there to see their son's/daughters/brothers and their eyes were opened. I just came away very sad abput the whole episode.

i understand why they chose vincent as a vinner. his dress was clean and appropriate for its carrier. the collar was a bit too 70s for my taste though but all and all it was a clean look and not as crazy as his previous designs.
this challenge was rather boring and difficult (due to the size of some of the people), lets hope next week is better!

i think alison and jeff are the only ones who (had) have the young feel in their designs. others are so unfashionable, boring and late on the "trends" so to speak.

I think once you pass a certain number, say, 4, it's a done deal in terms of peace and quiet. My grandma had 8 kids (7 boys) and they pretty much ran amuck after the first few were born...

Love how Laura said she would just "throw [the new kid] on the pile w/ the others" (or something like that)!

Oh gosh, I'm listening to the "Icon" podcast and Tim is hilarious!

When Angela got Audury, he says "I thought, oh poor Audury!".

And then about Bradley getting Cher he says "How can you not know CHER? What self repecting gay man doesn't know Cher? I thought Bradley was gay, and now I just don't know"
