I like the guess ads and Lonneke Engel is STUNNING, i loved her from the ralph ad. I can't see anything offensive or provocative....whatever.

Good one posting the Brooke Shields/Calvin ad. One of the most 'controversial' ads of it's time. How times have changed....

Sorry for the stupid question, but since many new models are so young when they make it big in fashion (13-15), was this the case in the 80's also?

Most people don't know how old (or rather young) models are, the know how old actresses are.

Yes I know, but my question wasn't exactly about Shields, it was of the indrusty in general...but she "inspired" my question.

I know what you mean, there are 13/14 year old models who do pretty provocative stuff, only no one knows it, because they don't always look their age. If it is a well known person, it is a different story.
In the 90's it was a little different, models were the stars of that time, so when Kate Moss did naked work and looked like she had just put an needle in her arm, it was a big deal.

I know that too. I think you didn't understand my question (or then I don't understand your answer). I was asking: Were most of the models in the 80's older than the ones today? I'm not meaning how old they looked, but how old they were in general, has there been a change?

o sorry:blush:

I think they were older in the 80's (and before)

I don't have a problem with the ads here, i like most of them, i find them quite sexy (only the Terry ones are a little bit OTT). One thing i don't understand is people playing with religion (any religion, not just because i'm a christian orthodox, any religion) and race. That's never brilliant, or funny, or shocking. Just plain ignorant and offensive, offensive beyond words:angry: . Making fun of something other people respect even if it's stupid for you, it's UN-forgivable:judge: . Shame on them:sick:

Same here. Most ads are just so sexy and they're fun to look at. Some of them are a little racist and religist. And yes ignorant. It's amazing how stupid and offensive people can be sometimes.

Oh and the Lonneke ads are gorgeous. She's gorgeous. She's the epitome of Ralph Lauren. Classy and beautiful.

Religist?

Why does everything slighty provocative have to be against religion? You people need to get a grip and stop being so friggin paranoid.

I totally agree on the sexiness issue, esp. about Terry. To me, most of his stuff isn't sexy or provacative, it's just nasty, lol. And this is coming from a total anti-prude!

But I have to disagree on the issue of religion. IMO, religion could afford to be brought down a few notches. It's not fair that we blindly have to accept any religion as infalliable. They're all subject to dissection, and even, ridicule.

Well Diorling, it's not actually about being paranoid, but the last supper for Christians is something sacred and seeing a woman imitating Jesus or a half naked man on the same table, it's quite offensive. If you read my previous post i have no problem with anything provocative, or with nudity.
I never said that naked women is against my religion. I think you misunderstood me, or i misunderstood you. Anyway the only thing i find offensive is the "last supper" imitation and the sony ad about the white psp (as i already said) and i think that kissmesweet was talking about the same thing.

And btw religist is not a word, but it's ok we all understood what u meant.:flower:

xmodel citizen I never said you should accept religion as infalliable, or untouchable. But making fun of something that other people believe in, it's disrespectful. It's like talking bad about someone's mother or family. And besides everyone is free to believe in anything he wants, but it's not right to make fun of people beliefs. That's all i'm saying. Don't disrespect it, not because it's infalliable or untouchable, but because it's sacred for some people. (i'm not saying this to you, generally speaking of course).

I think more models than today could continue until they edged onto 30, but there were definitely some very young models as well in the 70s and 80s. ;)

The only ad to ever offend me..

The text reads, "Apply generously to your neck so he can smell the scent as you shake your head 'no.'"
