I'm in shock over the Sprite commercial

I don't understand why they banned Keira's advert. Showing the violence was actually the point! I thought it was a strong way to get the message through.

Was the anorexia model photoshopped?

No she wasn't. Those are real pictures, taken by Oliviero Toscani, and the girl is a french girl named Isabel Caro. I took these pics as an example of anorexix women for an exam and i got really inot her story. She has been battling anorexia for more then 15 years and she only weighs 66 pounds now. She accepted to be part of the commercial because she wanted to be an example of what girls shouldnt look like..so it might be very strong..but i think she was very brave.

Yeah, the anorexia ad is totally real. I remember reading an article about it and actually seeing the woman in the ad. It's so sad :(
The violence advert with Keira is really strong, but I don't see why it needed to be banned. The fact that it's shocking and cringing to see brings the message across that yes domestic violence exists and it needs to be stopped. I also remember seeing a domestic violence ad/psa towards men where it had a man being beat, but I totally forgot where I saw it.

I love that Gucci ad with the shaven 'G'. But its not Carmen but Lousie Pedersen actually :flower:
I have always thought it was Carmen
Anyway, this is one of my favorite campaigns ever B)

True. Sometimes with provocative ads you can relay a message. It is sort of how children's charity works. The old man or a women come out and talk about a poor, starving child whose parents died from some epidemic or genocide and that we should look into our hearts to donate.

I don't believe in censorship, sort of the reason I swear in public. :p That's a silly example, but there are many problems we need to approach and a dose of IN-YOUR-FACE footage might be what people need to change. Even though it makes us uncomfortable to stare at a starving girl, it can change people's minds.

Inspire Me, Now!

this is scary to think of

Only before they thought cigarettes weren't bad for you in the least. ^_^

Thankfully we live in the 21st century... but some people still don't get it.

the sexist ads are offensive but the D&G ones are completely fine
Yeah, thank goodness times have changed, sort-of. Although, I still see comercials for things like Tide and other cleaning products that are advertised to women, never do they show a man cleaning in those type of adverts.

That Malboro ad is pretty disturbing when we think about it now. :ninja: I guess back then they didn't know any better.

^ some are nice but other ads from AA look like they came outta a 70's p*rn
