Or do they like him too much?

I have to say, I like it....though I'm a bit apalled...it still, I'm sure, adds spice to his portfolio.

Where I am, the phrase 'beat him off' means you use your hand for manual love rather than magazine-induced violence... I imagine some of his macho friends probably do harbour a secret desire to beat him off.

The idea behind the shots is interesting - although the shoes make the images absurd, as if the spirit of Helmut Newton was all about the accessories.

Also, though I like this humorous take on Newton's imagery, it's somehow the opposite of Newton. Because it's so vulgar, and Newton's genius was to make the vulgar absolutely elegant.

No, I don't have a subsciption. It is available in quite a few stores already here in the Netherlands. I was quite suprised myself.

Absolutely not. When you are willing to pay 15€ for a magazine, an extra 2.50€ is not that much of a deal. But Paradis has doubled its price from 10€ to 20€, and now Purple is incrasing its own, which makes me wonder whether other French biannuals will be inclined to do the same.

I've seen that for Paradis, too ...

I don't know what's going on in Fashion Magazines business, srsly !

For Paradis, I wonder if this is not because they MAY plan to go on an annual publishing ...
And Paradis has some great writers with them ... So i guess the price is ok.
A bi-annual art magazine like 20/27 (only art critics texts) cost 30€ ... but Frog costs 12€ (which is more a right and fair price - i would say ...)

But people are kidding us ...
And please don't tell me it's the printing ....... Printing costs nothing (and I know that for sure ......... !)

Purple Fashion for 17.5€ ???? insane ! And no Max, it's not because you used to pay 15€ that you want to pay 17.5€ ... If nothing has changed, just f*** off !

What are the reason ? The recession ?? so Olivier Z. needs more money to pay his holidays, NYC travels and stuff ? Don't tell me he needs money to pay the contributors and workers ... They are either pay s*** or just nothing !

    * I'm sorry but this is just proving more than Fashion instead of doing Vogue Nights, should just get a nap ! The whole business is just going so wrong and back to his elitist roots ! *

    I agree BerlinRocks.

While magazines such as Vice survive whereas they're free, Purple is getting more expensive ? insane !
