Jourdan Dunn was a surprise...I hope they use her in the campaign or Meisel starts using her. What a great face!

I was definitely surprised to see Karlie Kloss missing from the line up though...

Loved that Jourdan walked...hopefull it will boost her career. I just think Miuccia could have gone all out, with the ethnic models...especially since she had all eyes on her, because of the rumors surrounding her casting. Imagine how much free press she would have gotten if she did that. Either way I like her decision to incorporate a black model because Jourdan is great reguardless of her skin color. :flower:

Agree!!!

But I think all the girls have to have the same chances.

I can comment on this first hand. I temped for the American offices of Prada in NYC. As soon as I walked in, I was met with unfriendly stares. The look on their faces seemed to say "Oh, no, not a black girl." Now I have to admit, this is not something I am used to as I am an extremely light skinned black girl, but that is neither here nor there. This was about 10 years ago, when Lauryn Hill was a big deal. Her stylist kept calling to try and borrow a Prada dress for Lauryn to wear to an event. I was told to keep giving the stylist the runaround. The stylist confided to me that she had been trying to call Prada for a month or even meet with them re styling Lauryn, but she had been given the cold shoulder. Contrast that to her colleague, who repped a white celeb, who was instantly given any Prada gear requested

Wow...that is horrible. It makes me dislike prada more. Although maybe they thought it did not fit the aesthetic of the brand very well.

But from how I was treated and the whole Lauryn thing, I got the vibe that that is their company policy with black stars. I don't think I have ever heard of one black celeb wearing Prada. And at the time, Lauryn was very classy. She was not Lil Kim

True. Prada needs to get over themselves.

I thought in Milan they are more discriminatory than in Paris . So in a way it makes sence.

So since Naomi in the 90s, we have had Hye Park and Jourdan Dunn in Prada, and Emma Pei and Hye Park in Miu Miu.

Wow I had no idea Prada was so racist. This does change my thoughts on the line.

^ i don't see Prada as a racist. just discriminatory on how the girl carries her look, per se.

^ it may feel that way but i think it's more of an American attitude vs. European.

*it's not racist if they have had girls , regardless of the lack there of, who have been of color. whether or not if it's for marketing ploy/consumer target

and to bring Jourdan Dunn recently , i say that's not racist at all.

Not necessarily. Maybe they felt pressured. And Jordan Dunn is the ONLY black girl they are using. That says a lot

one thing with Prada they don't succumbed to being PC just so they can score a market share. B)

for example ... college/university acceptance in a highly coveted IVY league (american educational system), are often pressured to take in students of different race/color so the ratio is balanced , disregarding the ranking of high school grades and curriculum. I feel Prada is not the same way with who they want their models to be and/or who they want their clothes to be worn for ....i don't know how to explain it without sounding ignorant or prejudice:mellow:
