Finally!!!!!the 1st post worried me
Finally indeed....and I am so let down my him this time. Just doesn't do it for me. I must say his Jil Sander collection is so much better. Thank you for posting.
From the New York Times: The Moment blog
I don't see the mirror insets anywhere? I'll post again with my own impressions after I have a moment to collect my thoughts...
I echo that...There are some outstanding pieces but as a whole, a lackluster collection. It's sad cause I worship Mr. Simons
Looks like he tried too many weird cuts instead of perhaps introducing and perfecting just a couple concepts... comes off as severely under-edited and the construction doesn't look so great, either. When it comes to Raf, I look for refinement and impeccable construction, so needless to say it's a let down.
This is a big let down.
It starts on wall street then transcends into some weird varsity look into space suit sleeves.
Whatever happened to the old Raf?!
disappointed i loved last season but this one seems too formal and not as clean. i really like his collection for jil sander though.. can see some of that here too.
Not bad but not good...
how well behaved.
i gotta say, he cuts a sexy suit.
but those curvy pieces? in 2 shows? that's a bit too blatant.
Raf has a tendancy (for the past three or four years, at least) to do really amazing, innovative spring collections and then more conservative, not quite as amazing fall collections. This would definitely fall into that pattern.
The first dozen or so suits are perfectly tailored--which also means they bore me, but that camel coat with the grey lining in post two at least looks promising. And those three sweaters in post four are my favorite pieces, especially the one with the band across the chest.
I'm not sure about the sleeves, some work, others don't, but it's an interesting proportion that isn't unattractive. (The last look has the best example.)
Experimental? Those sleeves are hideous and awkward...the collection in general is boring, we've seen that before.
this is the type of ugly imperfections i cherish so much. and these were the beautiful ugly imperfections (if that makes any sense). such a strange way of translating human proportions felt so... unexpected yet very modern (and continues his work for Sander this season). i loved the mix of colors and 'elements' during the show, which created this cinematic illusion of transformation of these clothes from one look to another.
it takes time to completely understand what Raf Simons is about. this time it's no exception.
I don't know what to think....I mean I love Raf whit passion and we know Raf can cut a suit perfectly and I don't mind a few classic suits at all.....but this collection lacks the grounbreaking weareable innovation of his past collections...I agree that his fall collections are more toned down....but I don't see his awesome shades that I always love....or shoes....or something I NEED....
