Ralph Lauren S/S 10 New York

I can see the looks with the hats ending up on Daria in a Vogue US ed...

oh god this callection is all over the place - no sign of coherent.

white dress on lily is gorgeous...not so wild about all the newsboy/denim

this is the classiest way denim has been used in a long time.

Mmmm...not Ralph's best. He's been on such a roll as of late, but this just looks kind of silly and gimmicky.

It's okay...I'm a bit let down. Ralph is usually so elegant and beautiful. Maybe it's the denim that ruined things.

NO!! Valentina didn't open

well it's a little too WASP-y for me (I can just see the pink and white floral dresses on Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl :p) and it doesn't help that there's so much denim. The colors aren't for me either, then again my palette is more fall and winter so...
Some pieces are very beautiful though-but of course it's Ralph Lauren B)

On one hand I love blue and I love denim. On the other hand, this is kinda boring. But it's typical RL. Classic and wearable. I think he's smart by focussing on the basic staple pieces that made him successful.

^ So Cecilia opened again...? :( The whole thing was just OK...Nothing really awful, but very few that were standouts... BUT, they will probably sell the hell out of the various basic pieces- I think Ralph has adjusted to a new, more 'down to earth' product for the times we are living in... ;)

^Yeah exactly, thats what Im saying. By focussing on his staple pieces such as the suits and the dresses he's ensuring a really good turnout for the season. This is smart. ALTHOUGH I think he could have taken a bit more time withe details and another colour perhaps to make the collection look slightly more pleasing to the eye rather than looking so bland.

I kept thinking of the S/S 2005 collection- which was lovely and more pastel, but- not all that different...

Ralph did only used a single palette, and that annoyed me to no end. But I love denim and newsboy-style, so :woo: for that section.

Boring... I can totally see what Emmanuelle Alt is going to do with those denim looks :judge:

Ralph Lauren
Ralph Lauren's Spring 2010 collection offered a resplendent hope for the future this afternoon. The designer unpacked the notion of "hard times," focusing on the diligence and integrity of the farmers, cowboys, and pioneer housewives. Loose denim overalls, denim western jackets and daisy cotton dresses were at once finely detailed, soft, elegant and sensibly comfortable. Bringing the prairie to the runway, the pieces elevated the working class attire, beautifying a sector that is often dismissed, especially in the fashion world. As the collection progressed, silk and chiffon took the place of cotton in the laborer's wardrobe, again underscoring the sophistication and classic beauty of those who literally lend their hand to ameliorate American during grim economic times.
