Rianne van Rompaey

She’s given a lot to the modeling industry over the years. Good for her for taking a step back and forging a path of her own.

As long as she doesn’t pull a Julia Nobis, now that would be annoying..

It’s a loss for the industry because her work lately has been some of her best and she’s at the very top, there really aren’t any other models that embody high fashion, who can cover all areas of the industry (commercial, experimental, you name it) and whose rise and success is kind of unquestionable (unlike nepo models) and truly the result of work ethic and non-average beauty, but… good for her! It must be a bit disorienting to reach 29 under the same regime and dynamics you joined as a teenager. She’s had an exceptional career and exploring other ventures is the right move. This is probably one of the things I’ve come to admire about Dutch models over the past decade, not to say all of them are like this but they tend to be opinionated or academically-driven and you often sense an uneasiness or mild guilt with the premise of modeling (Cato, Marte, Nimue, even Doutzen despite her quackery inclinations), which is frankly the healthiest approach in the long run, saves you from the ‘who am I if not an extraordinarily beautiful woman?!’ Linda Evangelista/Paulina Porizkova type of crisis.

It was a sentimental post, yes, but I cant help but wonder if something in particular had happened that forced her to retire from this industry, rather than having ambitions to be in films / on tv? just curious

I thought about Julia Nobis too, lol. Wish the best for her, she's an amazing professional. I'm sure anytime she wants to come back, she'll be more than welcome (the comments on her post from very important industry members are a reflection of that).

Hope she'll do well as actress, hope this new venture of hers will be another success. That means she'll have to give as much as she gives to modeling, something like hundred percent, and also that she'll need to show some specific talent for it as well. Many actresses are great in movies but can't shoot a proper image even with the best team around them, examples are legions. Unfortunately it also work the other way 'round. So... best luck to her, hope she'll prove us all that there is no generality.
