Rinne Niinikoski is Helsinki based fashion/textile designers Piia Rinne and Noora Niinikoski. They make unique clothes accented with experimental textile techniques. Recently they have been focusing on printing, painting, applique work, embroidery and knitwear. Through textile treatments the generic becomes distinctive. The core of their design philosophy is summarized in the following sentence: The rules of the game determine the nature of the play and the shape of the end product. Instead of concentrating on single products Rinne Niinikoski designs ways of processing ideas and working methods. As a result of framed startingpoints, the process itself creates versatile but coherent series of unique clothing. There is always certain amount of chance and accidental surprises included in the final designs. Rinne Niinikoski has a fascination for the idea of perfect mistakes in the process. The game they are playing is also about balancing the amount of control and free flow of happenings.
