Rochas Fall 2003 (Paris)

when i first saw this, i thought it was one of the most boring and conservative shows i'd seen this season :? but as i went over and over it i've started to enjoy more the collection than i did at first. the dresses are quite lovely and while the suits are not 100% to my taste, they're classical and very lady-like. i love how he combined orange with black and the details he used in many of the outfits.

I am absolutely in love with this show! The best of the season thus far, IMO. Along with Prada and Dolce.

Loved it and I love Olivier Theyskens. I would wear almost everything shown.

A superb and strong collection for sure. He's already been called the next Balenciaga success story in fact, which is actually sorta bittersweet in a way.

In another... these "floating" dresses sealed it for me though the rounded tiered pagoda dresses held him well near the mark already. Too beautifully colored, constructed and placed within this collection to earn anything less than my standing o. And then afterward they haunted me for days .

Really bold of him too to introduce this different aesthetic at the very time when absolutely everybody would be watching and scrutinizing this relative baby making his highly anticipated début at a venerable (if for nothing other than the fact that it's such an) old Parisian house.

I've read a few good and a couple not-so-good reviews, but I thought he really let them have it quite frankly. Who would I be to ask for more than that from anyone ? 8)

FINALLY just saw this in a very detailed way...
I find this an interesting "game" with proportions, but somehow, something is not quite there, two centimeters here, three cm there, he could had it right, but just not yet.
It's great to have Olivier back in such a creative mood, but I think he needs some time, it was a good Rochas debut but somehow I can see why people said they were confused by the collection.

A friend who was at the show (HUGE buyer in Japan) decided to wait before ordering, by next season, Rochas could easily turn to the new Balenciaga.. I was expecting this to happen straight away, but Olivier is building up.
