God, those men are scary...

No problem. Thanks for the merge, Hanne!

Okay so this is taken from the best leather jackets thread, but yum. I wish I was a man. And I can't deny that Jared makes it look all the better..:p

:woot: i'm subconsiously following a trend, but i wont let it go, not yet anyway
i have a leather jacket almost like the one Alex posted but mine is from tyhe oldest 'traditional' bikers store in London.. its a Lewis Leather Original that i've been wearing only too often during the last two seasons.. it just matches with everything, hope i can wear the jacker for at least one more season before i see old school biker jackets all over the place

love the 'official' return of the rock'n'roll/swing/cool cats scene.. total fun, a scream and so NON pretentious

helena, thanks for the merge, Hanne thanks for bringing this up, twillight thanks for the side note :flower:
That's my problem with Branqhuino - she is too literal. Why should I pay $1500 retail for this when it is an exact copy of the original biker jacket?

On the more general note - I obviously love Rock'n'Roll style, but the image has been diluted and slapped on too many things. I like it in the Ann Dem, Raf Simons, Cloak reincarnation - confident without being aggressive, meaningful in its darkness, with a sense of uniquness, sterness, depth, and individuality. The pictures Mr.Dale posted are not rock'n'roll to me by any means - it's everything that is wrong with rock'n'roll. All these indie-rockers in suits and ties make me puke.

I see what you mean, faust. Indie-rocker and other forms of rock style have often been shoved under the Rock n Roll category..it has been very generalized..but I'm not too surprised, since indie-rock music does derive from Rock n Roll.
I like both 'traditional' and raw Rock n Roll style and 'modernised' style. It's about that vibe..

I prefer men runway Rock n Roll influenced fashion to women's Rock n Roll fashion..don't ask me why. Perhaps men pull it off better, or maybe I just don't know enough designers who design great things for women, too..

Nice images /\ :flower:

The problem with indie rock is that it's not indie anymore. Just like the hipster kids in the East Village aren't really poor bohemians. Sad.

Back to Rock'n'Roll style - I really like it when girls do it. Softie does it well. ^_^

I love this style, its what I would wear usually. Its cool getting inspiration from this thread :woot:

I love this.. this is really the way i like to express myself with clothes with a 'touch of rock' but always soft.. I don't like it when it's to hard, but that's just my personal image of what the rock style should be.

cool thread!!
I really like those skull tights too! :woot:
keep posting pics guys!

btw, that angry young and opor website has some cool stuff!

The CdG Rolling Stones logo'd stuff looks like clown suits to me.

For that matter, although I am a Rolling Stones fan, I have often thought Mick Jagger wears really bad-looking stuff.

On the other hand, I love what Hendrix wore, some of which was designed by Mick's brother Chris. Go figure.

My favorite rock fashion icons are the Ramones, Richard Hell and Patti Smith. As some of you know, it was seeing Richard Hell that gave Malcolm McLaren the ideas he would take back to London and incorporate into his SEX shop with Vivienne Westwood and his band the Sex Pistols.

My favorite photo of Richard Hell and the Voidoids, taken from www.richardhell.com, photo credit goes to Roberta Bailey:

Having said all that, I love what Hedi Slimane is doing and I think Pete Doherty dresses very well.

mmm.. i see faust.. sadly not my case... i'd say indie-rockers in suits and ties make my knickers wet, especially if worn by British guys... lust, lust!:woot:

i love the rock and roll style. have been obsessed with rock music ever since i was a kid, constantly buying albums since i was only 11. i suppose I can´t help let that shine through my outfits and style. my friend says i usually dress too aggresive when there are softer clothes which suit me better in her opinion but i always seem to choose the rock-y vibe...

as for those comments on Pete Doherty... i remember i saw him live in Bilbao sometime ago playing with The Libertines back then and he was dumb enough to jump off the stage with only a few ppl in the audience.. he happened to crash his head on the floor right next to my feet and i subconsciously efven took my feet away..he looked so gross and the furthest you can get from looking cool... he was fat, ugly body, awful clothes... couldnt help but pity him... super models as cute as kate must be really snobbish to date someone looking as sh*t as this man, me thinks. Even my fave guitarist adores him but i really cant see the point in that. his attitude onstage looked pretty fake and plastic to me and i must admit the best thing was his crashing against the floor during that gig.. definitely the less boring thing which took place then.

Ciao, Sonny xxx

Funny, I was talking to a girl in my class and she is friends with McLaren.

Tsunami, to each his own, I guess - a suit to me is a submissive uniform wron by the grey people. A rock musician wearing it is perverting the meaning of rock music.

cool thread. Love all the pix.
Yes tang I think that is one of my fav rock stories (the sex pistols one). I remember when I was young and didnt know what sex pistols was.... and seeing the word. And wondering what it meant..... different thread I know. Cool photo thanks. Man!! how do they look so cool??? (I'm thinking two tea spoons of wup-*** each night before bedtime.)
And Ann dem I'm liking her stuff more and more. I'm thinking she's the way of the fututre. I'm not really even seeing myself in her clothes, but the whole idea is really getting to me.

Faust who are the Grey People?:p

lovely images, TF. I always enjoy looking at Ann's work. :flower:

Sonny, great Pete Doherty story!
