Rodarte S/S 11 New York

you know i'm very impressed that they are moving forward without losing their unique love of textile....and texture in general. and i love the whole nature in the 60's era mood of it. there also seems to be more of a lighthearted sense of humour in this as well---the wood grain panelling prints are really funny to me. yeah perhaps a little close to some others although i would say more a tip to designers like antoni & alison and eley kishimoto, since i feel like that's where miu miu got a lot of it's influence from.

but this is good. i still love their signature knits though. i hope they don't necessarily abandon that completely.

I want to like this because it is something very different for them, and I can certainly appreciate the fact that they seemed intent to move forward, but it's just not working for me. The stiffness of some of the looks is kind of unappealing, especially now that so many designers are embracing movement and fluidity after a few years of structure, structure, structure. I guess that was them wanting to get away from the ethereal, drapey corner they painted themselves into, but I think the pendulum swung too far in the opposite direction.

But I am interested in seeing where they'll go next.

This is my favorite show of the week. The texture of the leather, the styling, all of the gold (my fav color!) the entire collection was spectacular. I'm also relieved to see the sisters are able to move in a different direction without losing themselves (or ending up with a catastrophe).

Rodarte can do no wrong in my book, but it does look a little stiff. I absolutely love the color combos though.

I'm glad they have tried to move forward (it was about time and they were stuck in a deconstructionist rut) but I feel the one element that they had previously, a dreamlike and otherworldly quality, is gone. This is what made them stand out in NYFW, compared to the other 'wearble' American Sportswear (to use a hackneyed phrase) collections shown. That said, I don't dislike the collection at all; there are a lot of great pieces in there, and the shoes: wow...

Ohhh I love this! It is like a dream. I wonder if the makeup was what was supposed to be the MAC collab?

At first I was very undecided but I think I like this collection. Some of the looks are a little too country bumpkin for me, and I don't love the proportions of those gold dresses at the end. However, I like the structure, the wood panelling, the shoes and the whole "queen of the forest" thing that's going on. It's something different, which they needed BADLY.

I'm not all that fond of a lot of the styling, but I can see quite a few pieces that I like.

I'm dying over this. Seriously, one of the best collections of NY. It's not just a breath of fresh air for rodarte in a way, but also a breath of fresh air for the season as well. First of all, the hair and makeup works so well here. Literally, every girl here looks gorgeous. The clothes, ugh, are divine. The styling is superb as well. I'm seriously lusting over anja's look. Just so chic, creative, nonchalant, and pretty.

I'm extremely happy and delighted! This collection is pure beauty of nature. the shoes, the make-up, the hair and the clothes and the prints. the sisters knock it out of the park again! And there's nothing sheer and white and I absolutely enjoy this collection very much. It's like I'm entering into this secret forest in my dream.
