I saw The Night Porter recently and was surprised to find out that she was the original choice to play Charlotte Rampling's part. Anyway, I have yet to see one of Romy's films...anyone have a suggestion as to what would be the best one to check out on DVD? Does she have any in the Criterion Collection?

I love What's New Pussycat? ! It is one of the sickest, funniest, totally underrated films!! Even though her part is small (it has a huge cast of stars) she shines as she always does!!

"César et Rosalie" and "L'important c'est d'aimer" are actually very good. She was amazing.

That's one film where there's always a lit cigarette onscreen. Not much chain-smoking in movies anymore.

... oh and Plein soleil is excellent, but she's essentially just an extra

she's not on any Criterion unless I missed something

Romy grew to be one of the actresses I'm most fond of. Besides being a superb actress — just love her mature Sissy on Ludwig, probably my fave part she ever got — she was such an interesting character. And had such a tragic destiny. :c
