The Bitter Pill starts this month so I think you're right that this is pre-production.

Malick's film starts proper shooting next october, but since the plot is heavily rooted in austin's music scene they've been pre-shooting at the most important austin festivals since last year (fun fun fun, a.c.l. and now sxsw). these are most likely parts that'll fit into the movie in some way (like in the last bunch of photos she's with a musician, etc)

This is very weird and random but my friend is her cousin! She told me about her a long time ago and I didn't recognize Rooney until The GWTDT came out. They grew up near each other in Westchester County, NY. Funny!
