I wonder if this movie will make any sense? After watching Tree of Life I'm not getting my hopes up about another Malick film.

Most of his movies do, Tree of Life was the odd one. Plus the plot doesn't seem too crazy.

^To be honest, To the Wonder didn't seem too crazy and some of the reviews suggest otherwise. But yeah, Badlands is a favourite of mine.

I've got to finish watching Badlands^^^. But, I'll be the weirdo and say that I absolutely loved The Tree of Life. It's not only my fave Malick film, it's one of my favorite films period. So...I kind of hope it will be in that same vein. Beautiful, contemplative, but at the same time, unlike a lot of his latest films I hope there will be plenty of dialogue (especially from Gosling and Fassbender) and perhaps a more linear narrative. But I trust Malick. I know a lot of people either don't get him or simply don't like him, but I've always liked how unlike other films (for lack of a better word, lol--distinct?) his movies are.

But whatever t he case, none of us have to worry about the film being ugly to look at. First off, he's cast some beautiful people and his cinematography is always on point. So there's that to look forward to, regardless.

I know, I know ...I think I said the same when he was filming "Blue Valentine" with Michelle Williams BUT: if it were not for a movie I would say that there are sparks flying between him and Rooney but then maybe that's what good acting is all about and: which girl would not love to flirt in front of the camera with him....anyway, my point is: they look super-cute together and it's nice to see her smiling and look "natural" - I am warming towards her thanks to the pics flying around with Ryan and her from this movie...she seems like she doesn't have to try that hard anymore to "seem cool" or whatever it was that kind of bothered me about her...

I don't know how I feel about her as an actress. Even in TGWTDT I thought that Oscar nom was undeserved and should've gone to Tilda. But this looks interesting anyway.

I loved her in TGWTD but I felt as though it was completely down to Fincher rather than her acting ability. She's going to have so many great opportunities to prove herself as more than Lisbeth in the coming year though.
