Royal Ascot has tightened up its dress code this year so ladies visiting the Royal Enclosure must cover their midriffs, eschew fascinators and wear skirts of 'modest length'.
But just in case there were any doubt, the Racecourse has released a series of stunning photographs for its official 2012 campaign.
And they certainly reinforce the message in style.
The images shot by fashion photographer, Simon Proctor, feature English rose, the model Charlotte Pallister.
She wears outfits including a this dramatic gown by Antonio Berardi in ivory with black panelling (pictured above) plus a series of similarly stunning hats by the milliner Stephen Jones.
The photographs were inspired by the glamour of 1950's Dior haute couture and pays homage to Richard Avedon's iconic Dovima with the Elephants picture of 1955 which appeared in Harper's Bazaar magazine.
Other outfits feature sculptural tailoring and immaculate suiting by Vivienne Westwood both in thoroughly modern white textured fabric and more traditional oyster brocade.
Pallister also sports also a flirty trapeze style skirt and a monochrome top, both by Dior, cinched at the waist by a narrow belt.
From his giant black flying saucer to his 50s-style domed shapes, Stephen Jones' hats definitely adhere to the 'four inch minimum' rule enforced in the Royal Enclosure.
Of his most elaborate creation, Jones explained, 'It’s a dramatic dome in jet embroidered Italian straw. Architectural, modern, glamorous!'
Jones has been described as ‘the maker of the most beautiful hats in the world’ Anna Piaggi fashion editor of Italian Vogue.
Pallister is accessorised with diamond jewels by Asprey, a dapper gentleman in a morning suit and three rather fine race-horses named Loch Fleet, Rajamand and Gallowgate Lad.

I find it so interesting that Ascot has created a set of images/adverts for the ladies attending. Is this their first time doing so? I'm not really aware of any other horse racing event doing this (and this comes from someone who grew up in a very popular horse racing town). I'm not complaining though... these photographs are gorgeous! I definitely got the Dior and Dovima vibe from the pictures. And who knows, maybe they'll succeed in getting those attending to actually follow the dress code. I'm sure these rules irk some people but I think it's kinda great, trying to maintain a sense of timelessness that goes along with Ascot.

Saw a variation of image one on an enormous billboard outside Paddington, I quite like it, very reminiscent of Avedon's Dovima With The Elephants.. only with horses!

Edit: I do wonder how far they'll go with enforcing this hemline/hatline rule, are we talking refusal of entry?
A ruler either side of the entrance?
