Saint Laurent F/W 2024.25 by Juergen Teller

I never understood the hype about this person, in fact I only found out who she was a few years ago... Here in Brazil at least she is a complete unknown. Terrible campaign, like many of her works...
After her brief modelling career, she performed unsimulated oral sex in a mainstream movie in the early 2000s, and the liberal culture consider her edgy and girl boss since then

But I wonder, weren’t options to adapt at least the spirit of the collection through the styling, in a much more practical way?
I think in terms of colours…If they did the collection in twill, silk jersey, chiffon, cachemire and styled it like the runway, made a « runway edit » of the collection, the clients would have been fooled perfectly.

And there were few coats and suits in the show too.
If you read the post-show interviews, Anthony and Bellettini both stated there will be production issue and that the fabric was a nightmare already in studio.
Any kind of ring would cut the fabric apart. They could not sew it bare hands, white gloves only (which seamstresses hate). They messed up thousands of meters just for the show and samples.
I doubt they actually really tried to mass-produce anything from the show, I dont know why they did not even bother to make adaptations too.

The irony is that I do not think the show even had the impact they expected.
I feel like the formulatic nature of his work is getting less and less traction.

It’s Awar. What’s with the white people that they cannot recognize two different black models????? Seriously?!
Yes! Love the r@cist attitude, because only white people can be bad at distinguishing faces! And reverse racism does not exist as we all know it! Suck it up, white people!

Wait. Sorry, thought this forum and me were in 2016, not 2024...

Anyway, love it. The casting is sublime. Anja, Kate, Chloë... It's like late 00s-early 10s, the still have it. Chloë fits French fashion with her attitude better than most actual French people, which I find amusing.

The best part was the exchange between yslforever and Lola701, at least some actual fashion and clothes discussion on a supposedly fashion forum.

Well, looks like I asked for the sheer looks and they delivered, LOL
I am nitpicking but I was expecting the shearling hobo Cassandre bag to be featured: we know Anthony hates showing bags on the runway, so showing that non mainstream bag in the show was a huge deal.
Also I hope to see some of the cocoon waxed leather coats

The two sets of shots look too different, but I honestly prefer the models one, even though Anja's impersonation of Eija at La Coupole 1971 is very déjà-vu. Also this tall blonde American girl from Andy Warhol's did that pose in restaurants a thousand times.

As for the clothes, I was just saying : "don't expect too much deliveries in stores". They had a lot of troubles with the 1st production in spring, maybe they had another batch of fabrics or changed techniques this summer.

Even since the Alber days because I think she wore YSL at the Oscars right?

Is Bonjour Tristesse financed by Saint Laurent Productions?

Yes! You've got a great memory @Lola701 ! This is what Chloe had to say about that dress in an interview a few years ago:

“The Oscars in 2000, for sure,” she said. “It was Alber [Elbaz] for Yves Saint Laurent and the Asprey [necklace] was like a Maltese cross. I’d been wearing Alber for YSL for a while and I was going into the archives and wearing vintage YSL — I was sort of having a YSL moment — and was wearing it for the whole campaign leading up to [the Academy Awards], so this was sort of the piece de la resistance. ... At the end, instead of a bouquet of flowers, [Alber] sent me a bouquet of sketches of me in all the different outfits that I’d worn.”

And regarding the film, no it is not financed by Saint Laurent, but it is a very "fashion world" film right, and so I can see why all the brands are trying to get close to the stars and dress them. Celine is already dressing the young actress from the film, so it makes sense for YSL to partner with Chloe (who is playing a fashion designer living in Paris in the film after all!).

I can't believe we have to explain the relevance of Chloe Sevigny in fashion lol
exactly, especially on TFS

I dont think she's a mainstream actress or has even ever wanted to be, she's more of an indie and fashion industry darling who truly epitomizes that NY cool girl attitude.
That said I love the campaign, if there's one person that can fit Juergen's aesthetic without looking like a mug shot it has to be her. Almost looks like a cigarette was photoshopped out of the first shot.

hahaha that ran through my head NGL! She's literally a YSL muse.

Binx!
Tbh, I would have been fine with just Charlotte Rampling and Kate Moss.

I don’t mind the other women though.

Good campaign, very Louis Vuitton with Madonna by Meisel in the spirit. But it works!

More than being cool, she is actually one of the few actresses that actually loves fashion…In a « buying clothes » kind of way and not « chasing a contract » kind of way.
Fashion loves people who genuinely loves fashion.

Charlotte, Kate, Anja and Awar were enough for me. Charlotte is definitely the star.

It’s a pity that Vaccarello is not involved with the beauty because the make-up with this styling would have been fabulous!

Chloe's photos seem to be a one-off continuation of Pre-Fall 2024 (hence the caption saying Fall 2024, while all of the other photos are Winter 2024). The Winter 2024 photos are gorgeous though, Anja and Binx always bring it! I appreciate that YSL is one of the few brands to contrast Juergen's style, which makes for some great photos (and I appreciate that he still uses his actual camera for it and not iphone photos like he did with Loewe).

Kate, Anja and Charlotte Rampling? This casting is perfect.
