Saint Laurent Paris F/W 14.15 Paris

I don't really know what to say about the collection, but I just love reading the negative feedback about it, even though I don't support it.

I think people should have known since his third collection that he wasn't going to bring anything dynamic to this brand, not that I blame for it though, it works, it looks nice, there's nothing fussy about the looks...and nobody else is doing it except him.

and Forever 21:lol:

I know I'll be in the minority but I think this is definitely one of Hedi's better collections for SL.

I think you'll be in the majority. Because, that's really not saying much given his previous disasters.

I personally think Hedi would be great under his own label, he’s aesthetics is too overbearing for this brand.

Agree, his Peter Pan syndrome doesn't match up with the house.

I'm still not really seeing any new ideas here. It's not awful, most of it is very wearable (covetable even), but what's groundbreaking about this? The styling? Whoopity doo.

This was awful. I get the image he's going for - it's not my thing, but I get what he's trying to do - but everything is very cheap-looking, desperate and basic. It's hand down the worst high fashion brand out there right now. Everything is such a disaster.

I love what he does at SLP and I love this collection, but I agree that there is a lack of new ideas here. I would still wear almost all of it, and all the fur and sparkle and pops of color are a lot of fun. But yeah, it wouldn't hurt for him to try something new that's in this same vein but a little more out of his comfort zone, because this is starting to feel too safe.

Did he even try?
Like, honestly speaking, i'd wear some of this, happily so, mainly the outerwear. But like, it's nothing i can't find elsewhere... maybe with less expensive fabrics, but at this point if im gonna spend lots of money of something supposedly luxurious i'll buy myself a celine coat. not a babydoll dress i can find everywhere else.

AND - those Gun-printed dresses are the cheapest (looking) things he's ever done. I cackled when i saw it.

is it supposed to be an homage to Warhol? either way, it looks like something you'd find at H&M Divided

at least it sells good...

don't think so. You should come and see the press sale each seasons at Espace Clacquesin in PARIS to figure it out all the left overs from Hedi slimane first 3 seasons already at minus 80% retail price. And the huge stock that it's represent coming from all over the world because they can sell it.
The main profit came from shoes and bag. Sunglasses are made by Safilo as a licensing agreement and the major profit goes to the manufacturer.

So "at least it sells good" it's just a myth or maybe you talking about shoes and bags.

The problem I consistently see with Hedi at SL is that the shows are always so elaborately styled that it is hard to see past the hideous styling, casing point here, that eventually when it reaches the stores the pieces are moreover luxury basics styled to hide his inability to be a directional creative director but instead is being a lazy dictator.

His reference to grunge and 60's Catherine Deneuve/Belle du Jour/Betty Catroux/Marianne Faithful/Anita Pallenberg just shows inability to take such an extensive archive as that at YSL and translate into a modern day dream which is achievable, it can be done just look what Galliano did at Dior, Nicolas at Balenciaga and Stefano even did it during his tenure at YSL, so it is possible, with the right creative director.

I'm not denying the pieces individually look great but he just falls flat in many aspects, for me.

Overpriced, mediocrely cut, uninspiring, unattractive rot. Period.

It's always been like this at the vente presse, at least from Pilati's time (I don't know about before). And for the revenue they always relied to sales of bags and shoes.

To the point now, I have to admit I'm kind of sold to the mood of 60's low heel boots and mary janes with mini dresses.

I like it. He is staying within his comfort zone and I agree with those who said that there's nothing groundbreaking here, but he does this thing very well and I don't see anyone else doing it (yes I hear you all saying F21, etc. but I have seen F21 and I've seen SLP close up and sorry but it is not the same thing).

I get the complaint that it's not "luxury" in the HC tradition but it is luxury in the rock-and-roll tradition and that is much more useful to me and IMO much more wearable for just about everyone. So in this sense I think he is liberating and democratizing fashion in the same way Yves Saint Laurent did. The only fly in the ointment is that there is nothing democratic about the price tags on these pieces.

I also quite like the styling. He is almost fetishistic in his styling and his design sense in general, and I can see how some are repulsed but I love it.

In summary, nothing groundbreaking, another rock-and-roll fantasy, sex and dissipation, easy on the eyes and quite qood! :D

it's obviusly not the best show. not beautiful, not unique, but i could pick several pieces for myself. just not putting them all together like on the runway. rich teenagers should be wearing it tho.

If his customers were 14 year old girls, I would think this was pretty awesome. But what grown woman could relate to those little kids on the runway, it's almost a little offensive.

Bad but it was like a shot of youth/adrenaline/excitement while seeing it. It's just funny and kind of wild in a very clichéd and pretentious way but it looks unpretentious at the same time. Those little uniforms are cute. I kind of needed this after this boooooring season.

I have seen a lot of sellouts online, but it isn't this rebellious rich schoolgirl stuff, it's the basic black stuff (that's actually adult-appropriate) that is nowhere in this show.
