I met photographer Samantha West two years ago when she was working for Placed magazine.
I found her so inspiring and her work absolutely enchanting.
I'd love to pay homage to her. :flower:

Publications include Vision Magazine, The Village Voice, New York Magazine, Montreal Mirror, ICI Montreal, Vanity Fair, CMJ Magazine, Placed Magazine, Interview Magazine, NEO2, Nerve.com, and Absolute Magazine amongst others. (source)

Samantha West is an Amazon born into the concrete jungle of New York City on New Years Day 1983.

After two years spent at the University of St Andrews where she could be found skipping across the hills and valleys of Scotland, she returned to New York to turn a longtime passion for Photography into a career.

She has been published across Europe, Asia, and North America, including Vision Magazine in China, Vanity Fair in Germany, and New York Magazine. She has also been the principle photographer for the musical duo, CocoRosie, as well as having the privilege of shooting various other creative minds and hearts.

Samantha West photographs faces and forms that reflect love, intimacy, and trust. She photographs herself because sometimes you are your own best subject, but more often than not, because she finds it cathartic and healing.

She is inspired by the curious combination of vintage nudes, Fred Astaire movies, bus rides, mermaids (and their long mermaid hair), horses, barefoot cooking, and planning trips she cant afford quite yet...

She adores letters, whether they be in the form of pen to paper or fingers to keys, so do not hesitate to contact her with queries, comments, recipes, poetry, or whatever you may please.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
In this series of photographs, the bedroom and bath are presented as havens for women. Hair is loosened and cleansed, limbs are stretched. Femininity is at its height and sensuality reigns. This series allows the audience to go swimming with City Mermaids and Urban Ophelias, to sit on beds with curvaceous languid forms that are honest and true in the milky white glare of pale skin, or slightly bruised and beautiful reality of an arched body. Each image is a delicious yet brief peek into the intimate moments of the women photographed. These adventures in the bed and bath can only lead to beautiful dreams.

Samantha West photographs faces and forms that reflect love, intimacy, trust, and friendship. She photographs clouds because people forget to look up and realize the beauty of the sky all too often. She photographs herself because sometimes you are your own best subject, but more often than not, because she finds it cathartic and healing.

She is inspired by the combination of vintage nudes, Fred Astaire movies, bus rides, mermaids (and their long mermaid hair), horses, barefoot cooking, and many hours spent dreaming of trips she can't afford quite yet.

Long On Style By Samantha Weest

From Models.com Designer James Long creates some of London’s most exciting menswear and his eclectic S/S 11 collection was among the season’s most innovative shows and the first menswear designer
to be given a stand alone show at London Fashion Week in September 2010. Long’s mix of dip dyed tops, distressed leathers and lightweight knits, gave onlookers a taste of what cutting edge guys will be wearing come spring and provided a much needed jolt of energy to the menswear scene. Photographer Samantha West brings the thrilling look to life with a special editorial shot for models.com starring the debonair boys of Elite London‘s newly launched men’s division. Who better to capture the inventive spirit of the clothes than fashion’s newest muses?
