I'm hooked on Denmark's latest export, Sana Belal from 1st Option in Copenhagen. She's incredibly fresh and youthful, yet somehow quite unique in her alien-esque face shape and deep, intense brown eyes. I just noticed that Sana is officially up on the Next PhotoASP website, so I'm willing to venture that she's been signed with them worldwide. Hopefully their success in the new face department will continue, because I think Sana could be quite a stunning girl on the runway.

I have to say that my one worry is that Next might sell her down-market to a Delia's-esque market because she can look very cutesy at times. However, I think the intensity in her eyes and the unique shape of her face should eventually make her more suitable for the runways.

I wouldn't have pinned her as a girl you'd like She's super cute, she reminds me of this girl I used to be friends with minus the facial piercing because most 12 year olds don't have facial piercings*~

^Well, she's definitely not as hard and angular in the face as I generally prefer. However, I think there is something very special, and somewhat intangible, about Sana's appeal. I don't know how to best describe it, other than a certain stoic quality in her eyes (more in her digital shots than anything else though).

I had also noticed her on photoasp recently and, even my favorites among the newcomers are rather close to Tessa or Inna for the moment, I've also thought she's got much potential My favorite are probably the snaps as well, her profile especially is amazing

Hey now, I have a softer side to me. Plus isn't that the best part of this industry, when your own personal tastes can be challenge and eventually evolve? I still prefer a more angular, editorial face, but I've come to appreciate the subtle nuances of 'cute.' I still think Sana has more in her look than simply cute.

I love the pictures with her hair down! She's got a great face. I agree yaars, I could see her getting Delias type jobs, but thats not such a bad thing. After all, I can think of a few models who started with Delias and are doing quite well now!

I'm always happy to find when our tastes overlap, Dale! I'm definitely surprised to see Sana showing up so quicking at a New York agency, and even more surprised that she's not with Next. Still, I have a lot of respect for what Ford is doing right now to reinvigorate their board, and I think Sana will be a great addition for them.

Guess who was featured on O2W this morning? Looks like I was reading the signs right. I'll be interested to see how Sana translates in Vogue Paris, but the concept is definitely exciting!

Her first job was booked simply off the strength of polaroids - a shoot with Cedric Buchet for Paris Vogue. That is how impressive and persuasive Sana Belal’s beauty is. Discovered 2 years ago at an amusement park, Sana is half Danish and half Tunisian, and will turn 16 in August.
