A photography book by Ari Marcopoulos called “Stoopz,” about skater culture in the early Nineties was the inspiration for Sandy Liang this season. The designer added more sportswear to her typically outerwear-focused collection, and the result rang true to her tough-meets-girly aesthetic.
Liang’s tight lineup still contained her signature motorcycle jackets in black suede and leather decorated with flowers, but for spring, she added more distinctly feminine pieces into the mix. These included cropped gingham trousers, off-the-shoulder silk blouses, miniskirts, and a pale pink silk dress with a ruffled, high-low hemline. The new direction was a smart turn for Liang as she continues to evolve and expand her young brand.
