Sara Blomqvist

Happy Birthday dear Sarah !!! I wish you all the best and much fun .Enjoy your birthday :woot:

You appeared in Spring/Summer 2008 in London. How you decide be a model? How were your first castings?
I was scouted by MIKAs at a horse show at age 13, but I didn't start to work in Sweden until I was about 16-17, and then with Viva at 18. My first summer in Paris was very slow, and I didn't think it would work at all, but then Plastique came out and at the same time I got a call from viva telling me that Joe McKenna wanted me for COS in London and I also worked with Russel Marsh and suddenly people took notice of me.

You were one of the most important new faces in that season because you walk for Miuccia. How did you feel?
I don't think I really realised how "big" it was, I mean I was really happy and proud, but I had a lot in school at the same time, and was more worried of missing out. I don't think I was that nervous though, maybe just a little about walking the wrong way or something..

Where do you live actually? and how is the model life there?
haha, who knows! I kind of move every other week.. I have an apartment in Karlstad, Sweden, but that's more of a storage room now a days, I mean it has become to feel like a hotel as well since I'm only there for a couple of days when I'm home. I want to get an apartment in Stockholm instead, since it would be easier with flights and everything. Otherwise it shifts. I stay with friends in NY and hotels in London and Paris most of the time. I try to have as much of a "normal" life as possible, to meet my friends and go for events and day trips to other places.

Which do you think is the most influential factor for be a succesful model?
I think you need to have good people skills, to be able to accept a lot and to have fun with it. I mean, sometimes things doesn't work out, which doesn't mean that you shouldn't be fighting for it, but you can't take it too seriously, after all there's very little you can do about it.

I have to say I love yout street style, which are your favorite designers? and your photographer?
Thank you! I don't really have any favourite designers or a specific style, I just combine my clothes in different ways to dress me as I feel for the day. I do think Ricardo Tisci is doing a great job with Givenchy though, and Jonathan Saunders, both for his own line and Pollini. I think Steven Meisel's editorials are absolutely amazing and everybody who gets to work with him should feel honoured. I've worked a lot with JF Campos, and his pictures are always a bit different, in the most flattering way.

Whose are your model friends?
haha, funny question. I obviously know a lot of models, but most of them are more trivial friends. Iris Strubegger is one of my closest model friends, but also Katrin Thormann, Anna De Rijk, Skye Stracke, Dorothea Barth-Jörgensen, Liu Wen, Egle, Hanne Gaby... the list could go on forever, basically it's the same girls that I hang out with during shows. I think the biggest myth about models is that they would be rude and unpleasant to deal with. Almost all girls are super sweet and fun to hang out with!

Have you ever been insecure at your work?
I don't think so. I can only do my best, right? Sometimes I've felt a bit insecure when no one have given me any feedback on my work, but mostly it just solves itself. There were a period when I was still in school and was missing out a lot at home which made me really stress about everything that I was asking myself if I thought it was worth it. But I'm so glad that I didn't give up, because this fall has been so good and I really appreciate everything that's going on in my life right now!

Finally, have you ever said no to something in modeling?
hmm.. I think I've said no to some nudity when I felt like it was out of the context. I believe that the human body is absolutely beautiful, and I don't mind nudity when it's about something else, and not about being nude. Otherwise I haven't yet reached my limits for what I think is cool. It's all in the name of art, right?
