I was just being curious, you often get emails on how you can become a secret shopper and stuff...... (but sadly you need to pay to do so).

I remember seeing a TV show once (I think it was Oprah) and they were talking about the world's best jobs. There was this secret shopper who went on the show and she got to shop at really expensive places and keep all her clothes.

I was just wondering if someone from tFS had a similar experience or knows someone who's a secret shopper?

I guess it's really exciting to have such a job! :woot:

(NOTE : I don't know if this has been posted in the correct section, it may be moved if incorrectly posted)

Hmm...I'm not quite sure I understand what a secret shopper is. Care to explain in further detail? :flower:

i think a secret shopper is hired by the store's top management for you to shop at their store. This is to determine the quality of the store's service, product, environment etc. In return for your opinions and comments on the store, you get to keep whatever you buy at the store for free.

I was one!

I used to work as a Secret Shopper!

It sounded really cool but in fact IT`S NOT!

-Shopping in stores that don`t interest you is no fun!
-The payment is LOUSY! I got 30 DM (= 15$) per Report back then which is really VERY little considering that one "Mystery Shopping Trip" takes like 3 hours (including writing the Report)
-It doesn`t even feel close to shopping (because you don`t buy something in the end!)

I really can`t recommend it as a job! :(

i got asked to do mystery shopping for TOPSHOP several times. nothing that exciting. its just plain research:blink:

My secret shopping experience didn't cost me anything to sign up, but i had to pay out of pocket first and then get reimbursed for the drinks/gas. My secret shop was for a bar/club. The report took 1 hour to write and i got paid $45 for the shop and reimbursed for 4 drinks per person. However it was not any fun at all because i had to keep track of the over pours, attitude and glass usage all while noting the exact time the infringements happened. It was so hard to write under the bar trying not to alert to bartender. It wasn't that fun, and I haven't done it since. You don't really get to shop where you want to either.

I had a chance to be a secret shopper but it was for a high street store and I think you get paid about £5! I envy those who can shop for a living

I do mystery shops every once in a while. And just a tip for anybody who wants to... never, ever pay to be one. There are hundreds of databases available free of charge... I mean, they should be paying you, not the other way around.

And it's nice to have the spare cash if the shop is in my area. I did a bunch of Subway shops this past Summer... the whole shop (the visit and write-up) took just about an hour, and I did about 20 at different locations. Got to keep my sandwiches, and got paid in addition to those. :flower:

Anymore, it's relatively hard to grab shops... so many people are signed up on lists, and it's often first-come, first-served.

Yeah.it wasn't as exciting as i thought it would be. I prepared for Banana Republic..and you literally have to study the material..Remember the sizes, specific types of clothing, the names. It was like spending outside time studying for an exam that pays you only $15
