I love how Maggie is posing with an apple. It such a great cover for September, what with the changing of the seasons and the start of the new school year. Makes me want to buy school supplies, even though I already graduated college!

Moss Tops Vanity Fair's Best-Dressed List

NEW YORK -- Kate Moss, wearing long white gloves, leather boots and a white fur hat, graces the cover of Vanity Fair's September issue.

The 32-year-old supermodel also appears in a photo spread inside the magazine, on newsstands Aug. 8. In two photos, she sports an androgynous look _ wearing a black hat, jacket and tie _ inspired by Marlene Dietrich. In another, she channels Dietrich in the 1934 movie "The Scarlet Empress" by posing in a white gown draped around her waist.

Moss has the top spot among the rich and famous featured in the magazine's international best-dressed list for 2006.

Other sharp dressers include George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Renee Zellweger, Gwen Stefani, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, CNN newsman Anderson Cooper, filmmaker Sofia Coppola, Prince William and Jordan's Queen Rania.

The sexy Vanity Fair cover is the latest move in Moss' career comeback. She entered a drug rehab clinic in Arizona last year after pictures of her allegedly using cocaine were published in a British tabloid. In June, prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to charge Moss.

Although Moss lost contracts with Chanel, H&M and Gloria Vanderbilt after the photos were published, she has signed new modeling contracts and appeared on several magazine covers, including the December issue of Vanity Fair.

She has maintained her relationship with Burberry, and can be seen in the company's new ad campaign.

I cant wait to find out who is on the cover of US Vogue i wonder when will we get any rumors of possible cover?Vogue covers are best kept secret in magazine publishing but i just cant belive that none ever slips out a gossip or hint about it,amazing indeed!

maggie gyllenhall on marie claire. she doesn't always look fantastic but is looking oh so sexy on that. the apple is a nice touch too, i take it that it's ment to be the whole 'garden of eden forbidden fruit' thing. or possibly the 'eat apples they're nice' thing..

In the forthcoming issue of Vogue, she's posing in a Jil Sander black trouser suit, unadorned by accessories. The image is intended to convey a message about the trend of androgynous chic and the move in the direction of tailoring.

I can't think of another model who I would have felt so confident in putting on the cover in such an austere outfit. But I know that Kate, with her heavy-lidded, contemptuous gaze, her parted lips that rarely speak, and a gamine, wide-legged stance, will have a unique presence on the news-stand.
