I love the accompanying TRACE article - she's so funny but real. There's lots more. Getting this issue.

This maturity is evident in how cool she seems about the New York fashion bubble. Current denizen of that infamous fashionista stamping ground, harlem, she lives with her sister and stays clear of downtown: “in the East Village, i used to go out to and bump into casting directors and fashion editors at the laundry mat. but i would never run into anna Wintour on 123rd Street!”
Equally grounded when it comes to style, she generally opts for comfort. “i know i’m in the public eye so i like to have a nice classic YSL pump... with my jogging pants... you’ll see that next season! actually i’ll go get them!” Sessilee darts out of the room to fetch them. “What size are you? Try them!” She spends the next part of the interview passing them around. although she’s been modelling so long, she still retains that childish glee, appreciation of her good fortune and a twinge of guilt when it comes to these overpriced architectural wonders of vertiginous python footwear.

...Sessilee seems unphased by the glamorous incidents life throws at her, revelling in their ridiculousness. Giggling, she explains what happened recently when she was late for her personal trainer and had to share a session with the next client. She found herself lifting weights and doing sit-ups next to – who else but – denzel Washington. Or her first met ball: “Everyone was in the girls’ bathroom, John Galliano included – and i just went in there to pee. i accidentally knocked rhianna... rhianna!... and she looked at me like “man”, and then recognised me. me? She said she loved my Vogue cover. Some of rhianna’s italian Vogue photos were actually references and i was like – Shut up! are you kidding me? rhianna’s so sweet and hilarious and, boy, can she wear nipple tassles!” She collapses giggling, “i spent most of the night in the met toilet. That’s the place to be!”

Or it could be that she just has more fun with them: “attitude is vital on the catwalk. black girls generally have a lot of attitude. i remember the arise catwalk with Liya, Naomi, alek and Grace Jones. Those girls are so sassy and sexy. They look like they’re having fun. Who wouldn’t want those girls to model for them?” Sexy, sassy, confident: now that’s something to aspire to.
