That's very true! The very name is magnetic and the face easy to imitate with the right makeup. But to recreate a person, to revive her story, make it credible or fascinating requires a lot more. And to write a good, original script at this point when there are so many biographical movies about MM is a real challenge.

If you only search IMDB for movie titles containing the name "Marilyn" you get 71 records! And you can hardly name one or two that maybe were interesting. That says a lot, I think.

So apart from being more than sceptical about Sienna's ability to be a good MM, I think the chances of the film being any good are low.

Actually, it's a modern size 8 (US) if I'm not mistaken. Either way, Marilyn was curvy and Sienna is not. If true, this would truly be an abomination. It wouldn't surprise me though...after all, did you see what they did to Bettie Page?!

I saw this thread and my eyes actually bugged out of my head. As a major Marilyn fan I can only say WTF!!!

IMO, Hollywood has a very, very limited number of major actresses who could pull off playing Marilyn, for starters because not many of the younger bunch have the body to do so, not to mention that they'd have to be a damn good actress because as we all know, Marilyn was much more complex than her public persona.

Lookswise, Scarlett definitly could, but she'd have to work with a voice coach cause her voice is way too deep for Monroe.

This film will be absolute crap. I can take it though, because there already have been many crappy films made of Monroe, like the one with Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd which was an embarrassing performance.Why can't they let dead people rest in peace for a while?

I hate Hollywood. It kills everything.

It's not all about the looks...The reason why Marilyn is so popular goes behind her looks...she had something special, which is very,very hard to imitate.

I agree totally...I don't think I have ever seen a movie, nor a person pull off MM's essence, ya know? It just doesn't seem right. Every time a person tries to recreate MM it comes off as tacky...and she was anything but tacky, in my book, she was the epitome of innocence.

Charlize looks great in those photos but I agree its not just about the looks, it will take a great actress to capture the essence and personally I don't think theres any big Hollywood actresses right now who could. IMO theres definately none who have the look and talent to pull it off. I would say Cate Blanchett or Claire Danes but they definately don't have the look, or Scarlett Johanssen but she doesn't have the talent, a wide search for an unknown would be best reckon.

But also, I've never seen a Marilyn biopic?? Woah am out of the loop!

Err.. I don't personally love Scarlett, as I used to think that she always tries so hard to pull off the "Marilyn" look. But we've to admit that she's one of the most suitable actresses in Hollywood to play Marilyn..

Since people in here are talking about Sienna's size(being small and having no curvature) just remember, there are plenty of actors/actresses who go all the way to do what they must for a role. That's including gaining weight or ugly themselves with makeup. (oh the wonders of makeup artists) Example, Charlize Theron for Monster. She gained weight and of course the makeup artists did a great job of making her, not so appealing. I'm against the idea of Sienna for the role, but if this is really going to happen, maybe she is willing to go all the way.....who knows!!!? Plus, it would be helirous to what.......I don't know, I may be so embarrassed for her I may just turn off the film.....

I don't really believe this until I hear it from a credible source, I mean this news is from some private forum... There are plenty of talented actresses in hollywood, I highly doubt that they would pick Sienna to play such a role, not only does she not look the part but she a) is not even very well known and b) has very questionable acting skills...
