Ahead of the spring/summer 2018 shows, T and the casting director Arianna Pradarelli round up the runway’s most exciting fresh faces — some making their New York Fashion Week debuts, others a few seasons in.

17, the Netherlands

The Amsterdam-based Van Daal debuted in July at Proenza Schouler’s inaugural Paris outing, though she vividly remembers “having to walk in front of Karl Lagerfeld when I had my hair and makeup test for Fendi — I was in awe of how he made these different looks, and it felt so inspiring to be a part of his entire creation.” She also turned up at Valentino Haute Couture. Van Daal counts “singing my heart out with a spatula in my hands” among her preferred pastimes and had otherwise hoped to take a gap year to do some volunteer work in a developing country. “I really like to help people who are in any given situation,” she said.
